Yep. That's why them guys get flight pay. That first video looked like, well, normal. I've been in far worse sea-states recovering helicopters. That second video, whew! At least the pilot had enough sense to wave off and try again. The John Wayne mentality will get people killed.

We were doing a RAST trap once in bad weather, when I stood up after mating the probes up, I got hit in the left shoulder by the right main mount (SH-60B) The HAC, LSO and I all must have had a terrified expression for a microsecond, then we were all "It's cool".

Some nice talk about Tornado simulations, its really impressive how closely the simulation corresponds to real obserations already, despite not including all factors.

Now the question for practical application... how to find the SVC first?

Well, to their defense, it was a new type of helicopter getting tested, the ship crew was German, the helicopter crew French.
