Usage I made this so it would be possible to use the Universal Cargo Deck as a replacement for the XR5 Vanguard's payload management system, which can be inconvenient if you want to pack things densely, or in strange ways. This is just a very simple vessel, no mesh, no engines, nothing but itself and an XR-cargo attachment point. To use the Universal Cargo Deck with the XR5 Vanguard (assuming that they're both installed): 1. Open the payload editor (on the XR5's cargo bay panel), and create a UCD_carrier in one of the center payload bays. Nothing will appear there, because it's an invisible vessel, but the payload manager will recognize it's presence. Close the payload editor. 2. Open the scenario editor, and create a UCargoDeck vessel. 3. Change the Core Vessel of the UCD to be the UCD_carrier in the XR5's bay. 4. Change the Jettison velocity to 0 m/s (otherwise jettisoned payloads will fly forward and pass through the cabin). 5. Now position vessels with the UCD. The XR5 will register their added mass. You can even place oversized payloads outside of the bay (you can pretend they're bolted on, or something). Unfortunately, I don't think the XR5 will register their air resistance, but it looks cool anyway. Installation The usual, just unzip into your orbiter directory. Also, while they're not required, the UCD carrier isn't very useful without the Universal Cargo Deck ([ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3262"]Universal Cargo Deck, release 4[/ame]) or the XR5 Vanguard (http://www.dougsorbiterpage.com/). Thanks to: Douglass Beachy for the XR5 Yuri Kulchitsky for the Universal Cargo Deck

Pros: Small download, exelent addon.
Cons: No scenarios, documentation naming and location

I suppose it was only a matter of time before something like this came out... Anywho, a very handy addon, but only two small annoyances... The documentation contains on one file, namely "readme.txt" in the root. Most people might refer to this file a lot. Unfortunately, a lot of addons have "readme.txt"s in the root directory, and hence the file will be over-written if another such addon is installed. It would have been a lot better if the file was named something else (even something as simple UCO_4_XR5 would do for starters) and in the Doc folder. Secondly. Example scenarios! People like to be able to see what your addon does really quickly. Even something as silly as a whole lot of XR5s "piggy-backing" on each other would show us how it works. Well, not really, but you get my drift.

Really simple, Really handy. It makes loading many different types of payloads into your cargo bay with UCD very easy.

Pros: Makes adding payloads to the XR5 simple.
Cons: As mentioned, readme.txt needs to be placed elsewhere.

Thank you for this wonderful addon! This is by far the easiest way to add items such as Greg Burch's station building blocks as a payload in the XR5. It eliminates the need to edit the config files of the building blocks in order to get them to show up in the bay. Once you have the carrier/UCD setup configured, just spawn a building block module, anywhere, then add it into a payload slot using the Universal Cargo Deck. Excellent work!

Pros: Holds things that can't usualy be placed in an XR-5
Cons: Complex setup

This is great! Now I can carry the extra fuel for long journeys and maybe complete the flag challange.

hi i have a problem with the ucd_carrier or xr5 (i dont know) when i installede the ucd carrier and xr5, the spacecraft 3 class vessels dont work ¿why?

Hi,I just started using this to haul up station parts to LEO,the author claims it adds the payloads mass to the XR5 using UCD ,but I cant get the mass to change in the Xr5s mass display,Is this addon really needed anymore,or can I just assign the Universal cargo deck, without the UCD carrier addon to the XR5s bay? Thanks

The no mass ad occur for me too. Maybe it is because I use the Vanguard V.1.7?

It is probably best to just make the neccessary edits to the config files to make the parts XR-5 payloads.

** Note: The following is based on a scenario running in the latest beta, with D3D11 client build from 4/29.

On my current mission I have two of Greg Burch's modules, BP101 and BT201, loaded on the UCD, which is attached to a UCD carrier in the XR5 payload bay. The two parts' combined mass is 4500kg. This is reflected in the UCargo Deck mass when I check the ship's info by pressing I - UCargo Deck shows mass of 4500kg. When I look at the UCD Carrier itself in this screen, it shows a mass of 1000kg.

When I go to the XR5 payload panel, it's showing 5500kg as my total payload mass. So I'm not only getting the mass transferred from the UCD-mounted payload via the UCD Carrier, I'm also getting the 1000kg from the UCD carrier. My only issue/question is, if the UCD Carrier is supposed to be a phantom vessel, why does it have a mass of 1000kg?
