Officials: Debris will miss North America

Will the debris impact Europe? Or Asia? Or Africa? Or South America? No, nobody cares. As long as it does not impact North America...

Note that the articles saying this are just North American and not international.

...Articles written in Polish say it will fall in Italy.

Bring it on!

EDIT: on a more serious note, an error of half an hour in the reentry time will result in an error of more than 10000km in the impact location.

They also say that Germany is at risk, but no surprise, regarding the large uncertainty, almost half of the planet is at risk.

I still bet it will hit central Europe. Not because I calculated very precisely. but because it is at the most certain place to impact.

Allegedly, Scunthorpe is in the firing line...

I propose to lock Martins into a cave for the week-end. :)

4 layers then : a skin of reactive armor, a shielding of depleted uranium, a triple-layer of titanium and a layer of black kevlar for the look.

Am I right with the thought, that there is still a lot of chemical stuff in the satellite, that could contaminate a broad area or will this burn up?

No, you are wrong there. It was already vacuum-inerted 6 years ago. Even the batteries should already be free of gases. It can still contain small amounts of frozen propellant after reentry, that is not impossible. But no large amounts anymore.

But already a small piece of hydrazine ice in a propellant line can be harmful for a human close to the debris part. That is why you should better step back from the debris and let experts salvage it.
