Hello,

Is it possible to create an object that's semi-transparent? I'm thinking a glass or water type effect where the texture of a mesh isn't solid but translucent to a degree.

Thanks.

An easy way is to just add a grey alpha to the dds texture used for the window. The exact shade of the alpha required will depend on the base texture colour and how transparent you want it to be.

I'm sure there is a more advanced way to do 'proper' glass on a mesh, but you are better to ask a more advanced modeller like Coolhand or RussH.

If I am correct you need 2 textures, one for diffuse and another greyscaled of transparency level (alpha channel texture), combined as DXT5 texture file.

I do not know how to produce a DXT5 DDS file.

ar81 is correct, you need the 2 images to combine into DDS-5. So in your case, a blue water texture and a grey alpha texture. DXTBMP.exe will do it for you for free.

And lol, gary, what an awesomely pointless addon! do it! :D

Why? You have the NASA aircraft fleet for practising shuttle approaches so why not practise the on orbit activities?!

Actually, there are a bunch of add ons I'd like to develop but I'm not good at modelling and cannot program so not much of a dev I'm afraid.

Still going to have a crack at a few things though.
