Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

I did deploy it at 3-4km of height, with speed around 150-170 m/s, as on all my previous flights, and there it worked.

Despite the winglets, the first stage is uncontrollable and extremely unstable...

From what I've found the winglets is the factor that makes vessel uncontrollable and unstable, don't know why. The only good stabilisation is two SAS modules stack - it's an absolute minimum needed to keep rocket on course with 'F' key.

Funny game, anyway, my son likes it, though his rockets tends to blow up on launch attempt:lol:

You need to balance the winglets. Place 4 equidistant round a stage and you should remain slightly more stable. SAS modules are still the best though.

I wish I was a beta tester.
Its open alpha. link is in OP.

This is really a great and addictive game. My hat is off, HarvesteR :tiphat: .

However, I think I broke it :embarrassed: :

erm... still climbing after display switched to "k" instead of "m"

I guess I've just sent the Kermans into sun orbit

At this altitude, the view is constantely wobbling, almost like Orbiter does at great distances from the sun. I assume this is a numerical precision issue.

I'll post picture of the stack configuration after the Kermans reached Alpha Centauri ;) .

cheers,

Looks like I need to strap some more SRBs on my rockets...

Ok, at 1177 km it looks like the Kermans have eventually reached apoapsis:

You may notice that Bill and Bob are a bit concerned, whereas Jebediah looks like he had a smoke or two...

I second that, Jebediah looked like he was having the joyride of his life even in the face of impending doom.

Sorry to break it to you, but my highest is 138 km.

No go. Four winglets palced symmetrically around a stage (stage texture elements was used as reference, I assume it's quite precise) - dangling around like crazy even with SAS enabled. This exact configuration without winglets - vertical flight for 26 km with command module landing in 500 m from the launch complex. Read the winglets description. It was found lying by the road. Not a good choise to use it as a stabilizer, I think

And it is sunrise for the kerbanauts:

Nice shallow reentry, almost as if it was planned that way ;) :

Short before splash-down:

I guess Bill, Jebediah and Bob are now official record holders:

And this is the vehicle that made them famous:
