Gaming The Kerbal Space Program - Version 1.2.x

See the nearly solid colors in the background? That's the "skybox" background...
?

I mean like the planets. A hubble image of Pluto is a 2 color blob. Even if it wasn't to that degree, stuff like Jool's moons or Eeloo should be kinda mysterious, I think, and not the same view I can get in orbit around them.

The "tweakables" revolution the way you can use solid boosters. Before they weren't so useful with light launchers, because most of their energy was wasted early in the ascent, with probably insane amounts of dynamic pressure. Now you can fit them to your needs, which is very useful.

However, I think this should be limited to some degree : it is a bit weird to be able to operate an engine to the third of the power it was initially designed for... :hmm:

Apparentley you can use tweakables to drain your fuel tanks so you can see your center of mass move with more and more of your fuel being burned. Which might come in handy in spaceplane designs AKA "That was the smoothest ascent ever. OK, reentry. OH MY HOLY PROBE I'M FLIPPING AROUND!"

KerbPaint, but it doesn't seem to work with 0.23 version anymore (or no plug-ins have been loaded properly after the update).
Well, it was only computer's intrusion prevention system being oversensitive after KSP's executable changed. KerbPaint works just fine, except for "solidBooster1-1" part, which needs to be commented out in KerbPaint.cfg if you don't want the big solid booster's exhaust be without alpha channel.

Awesome

I´m playing the career and after one double flyby mun-minmus i get the fuel systems for cross feeding systems that make possible a minmus landing and a sample return mission .

i used to fly with orbiter but kerbal is highly adictive as a game.

I love the engineering about rocket construction and the navigation is very intuitive and visual.

Since I couldn't find a decent biome map of Minmus so far, I've made one myself.

Maybe someone will find it useful.

There is nothing like setting up a Minmus flyby with free return, that ends up with a slingshot around Mun on the way back, totally by accident too.

Pretty neat video, but the nit-picker in me is biting his tongue.

Resistance is futile.... Isenguard is the place where the tower (Orthanc) was located...

Still, it was a well put together video with good commentary.

Mun's a real pain when going further out. It's so often in a wrong place. It's too easy to hit it.

Say that to Ike...
The pain when you set up a perfect aerobrake on Duna but Ike is like "Hey! Hey you! Listen! Hey! Hug!!!" During every course correction I make to Duna I find out that if I'd burn a bit less or more I'd end up in Ike's SOI again.

Let's you appreciate Gilly.

Good news Fly by of Minmus netted me 450 research,
Bad news Mun Flyby messed up and ended up on the way to a solar orbit. Corrected before Abe went for a lonely journey, but ended up re-entering with less then 10m/s Dv left.

Great news: you managed to land back on Kerbin with your science haul. :)

Mun's a real pain when going further out. It's so often in a wrong place. It's too easy to hit it.

Thus the frequent line on the KSP forums, "Then, I accidentally Mun." It's a well known bug FEATURE.

I first played Orbiter a few years ago and got frustrated with it and put it down for a while. Then I found KSP. I fell in love with that game! I have been having a blast with it. I was going through some old papers one day and found part of a copy of the Orbiter manual I printed out years ago. With my new found knowledge of orbital mechanics and space flight, thanks to KSP, I reinstalled Orbiter. It is amazing how much more I understand and how much more I have learned playing with Orbiter now as well that will help with KSP.

KSP has had my 2 thumbs up for quite a while now.

Mining science points from the Mun (each lander lands in a different biome, and returns to Kerbin, giving me about 500 science points each time)

Looks eerily like that thing out of Space Cowboys to be honest.

I never saw the whole film, so any resemblance is unintentional.

edit: And the landers keep tipping over. Guess I'll never put three legs on my landers ever again.
