OHM SpaceX launch vehicles and Dragon

The fairing jettisons during ascent, but the panel plates are kept on until deployment.

Too bad there is the solar panels / D3D9 conflict :(

Alright. but the ascent autopilot might need to be rewritten

Indeed. In Orbiter the first stage gains velocity and altitude much quicker, my guess is this is because the autopilot applies full thrust the entire time. Here is the data taken from listening to the chatter on this video:

Is there a way to configure the Dragon for a trip to mars?
I put the ENV 0 in the scenario file, but still get a "no power, all inputs are disabled" message.

I deployed the solar array and it show a 100% battery charge.
But when I on my way to mars this message appear.
Maybe it is because I use full time acceleration?

P.S.
I put this post in he wrong thread. I did not look at the date and version of this add. Bummer:rolleyes:

I have a question for the designer, what are the parameters for the TRUNK in the scenario file?

ETA: Never mind, I found them in the doc, sorry.

I'd like to say thank you for a great, essential add-on for Orbiter 2010, as you can probably tell from my sig & avatar I'm a big fan of SpaceX so this addon rocks for me, there are a few minor issues, can the next version move the Pad to the correct position - i.e. off of LC39.
Has anyone any news on the next version of this addon?

I don't know about a next addition to this addon, but I've made newer Dragon capsule.

on Orbithangar.

Hi Donamy, I have tried your updated dragon but unfortunately it didn't work for me.

To be able launch your nice dragon with this add-on's launch & pad etc, would be great... but I've had no luck with it unfortunately I get a CTD. I try to keep my Orbiter installs very basic now except for visual add-ons.

It gets too messy in there for me!

Could you post you Orbiterlog and Scenario and I'll see if I can help.

Hi everyone,

I've been having a lot of fun with this add on, and was wondering how I can reduce the payload mass for a GTO orbit? SpaceX lists the Falcon 9 GTO capacity as 4850 kg, how can I design a payload with that mass, and load it on the F-9? You will have to bear with me my software experience is limited. Cheers.

Love the add-on. However, I do have 2 comments / suggestions. 1) the Falcon Heavy 2nd stage destruction after a few hours seems arbitrary. After separation and TLI, I send the second stage around the to sling shot out of the earth-moon system. But sure enough, thousands of kilometers away from the atmosphere and with no decel or collision, it tears itself apart. It would be nicer if this was controlled by a configuration switch
2) why not have the battery start to discharge after the support tower is removed?

Quick Question here.
I have the manned dragon on the pad and I already downloaded UMMU specifically to do a spacewalk from Dragon. Once in orbit, how do I egress for EVA?

Hello. I've only been experimenting with this add-on for the last 10 days or so, but I'm already a big fan. Great add-on.

I am having an issue with it crashing to the desktop though. I am able to reliably recreate this crash. (And another person from this thread says he is able to reproduce this crash as well.)

As I stated in that other thread, the crash occurs every time I re-enter that atmosphere and deploy the main parachutes. Also (as noted in that thread), if I quicksave before entering the atmosphere and delete the F9 debris0:SpaceX\Debris section from the save file, I am then able to reload the save file and complete re-entry without a crash.

I started posting this problem in the D3D9Client thread because I originally thought it was caused by that graphics' client. However, I'm not sure if that's the case, so I wanted to bring it up here as well.

The crash looks like this:

And my log file says this:

Some suggestions for further improvement:

1. The launch autopilot isn't exactly doing the job very well: usually the final inclination ended up more than 0.1 degrees away from the one I typed in, and usually when launching payloads (e.g. Dragon) to LEO the perigee is almost always inside the atmosphere. Usually such orbits should at least have the Pe at 150+ km (e.g. the parking orbit for Dragon is ~200 x 330 km, while in her it's more like 30 x 330 km). Can you help improve its accuracy?

2. The new Falcon 9 (now named Falcon 9 v1.1) and the Falcon Heavy is much longer than the one in your add-on: BOTH the first and second stages will be stretched making the rocket ~50% longer than the v1.0), as well as using larger thrust engines (Merlin 1D and the Merlin Vacuum 1D). Also the engine placement of the first stage has been changed (the 8 outer ones now form an octagon). Can you make new meshes and coding for such a change?

3. (not as important as the ones above) Can you try to change the codes to "decouple" the rockets from the launch pads? This will allow for moving the Falcon rockets to other places for launch.

4. I see that the Dragon nose cap is jettisoned in one piece. Can you help changing the meshes?

5. I hope you can contact forum member Kyle: he is currently developing the add-on for the second Falcon 9 launch pad at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. I hope you can offer him to help coding the pad for use on this add-on.

Thanks! :tiphat:

Well, I was developing it. I've had an issue with my computer and had to do a system restore. I didn't get to save all my stuff I was working on, so I'll have to start it again. That being said, if Glider asks for it, I will certainly work as hard as I can for him to make the pads for the Falcon 9 and the Falcon Heavy. If anyone could provide good pictures of the proposed pads, I could probably have them done within a week or so.

Hi, I didn't read the 200+ comments so maybe someone already answered my question. With the FH, after separation in a manual launch, the second stage almost always explode... I have no idea why this failure is so common for me, I would say at least 9/10 times I get this failure... Can someone explain me why?

I get that too. I suspect its either a bug, or something they neglected to mention in the manual. Hopefully a fix is coming?
