this isnt a request for a single addon, but rather a fleet of them, developed my many different devs to give diversity

i just feel like orbiter needs some more space stations to fly to, of all shapes and sizes, in Earth orbit, Lunar orbit and Martian orbit (and Venusian, Jupiter[ian], Saturn[ian] orbits as well :D), so we always have someplace to go.

i know there are a few around the community, but some fresh ones would be a good idea. they arent even hard to make compared to vessels, all you need is a mesh, texture and CFG and youre done

hope we see some new stations around soon!

I'm in-work on something to add to the station collections. Real life right now has me by the - well....
I'm on a 12 hr shift, 6 days per week right now. When I'm done and got my vacation over with, I hope to show some progress.

I'm thinking of making some station modules small enough to upmass with the XR2 Ravenstar. Not totally sure of everything, might end up oddly-shaped due to the shape of the bay. There's going to be a need to use small docking ports, perhaps upgrading those used by the CHM.

I'm not even sure if this is reasonable, though...one could upmass so much more with a conventional rocket, not to mention the limits of the volume of the bay. So the Ravenstar might be limited to fulfilling the role of station resupply with MPLMs, unless someone thinks otherwise...nevertheless, an MPLM for the XR2 would be useful (and is something I plan to make).

I'll be re fleshing my meshes as I learn how to make all this software work. 3DS Max 2011.
My Gateway Station has over 300 objects to place in orbit, it has about 20 ports for docking, and a facility to build ships in space. It will be in GEO orbit. It will take a concerted effort to make the add-on, but it is highly modular, based on nodes, and long modules. It will take over 100 launches to get all the pieces into orbit and correctly assembled.

Patience is the key. I'm starting a new thread, it will be a Project thread. I will need some help for the difficult bits that need more than just a cfg file.

Thanks for placing this as an interest item, I believe additional stations are a nice requirement.

if you dont have animations (or want to leave them for a later release) and have the mesh and texture, i can write the CFG in an hour or two, assuming i can have a copy of the mesh to measure distances

There are already a lot of stations available on OH to fill your solar system.
For example:
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3940"]Papy's Bar[/ame]
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=898"]Celestium[/ame]
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=1178"]Celestium 2[/ame]
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2626"]Celestium 3[/ame]
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3224"]Bond Vaga[/ame]
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=1834"]Fuel Service Stations[/ame]
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3908"]ESS[/ame]

You even could use the Space Station Building Blocks to premake some own stations, and place them around the solar system.
Or if you prefere more Sci-Fi like, use a [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2066"]Star Trek Space Dock[/ame], [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2548"]The Big Wheel[/ame], a [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4581"]O'Neil's Colony[/ame], a [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4955"]Stanford Torus[/ame], or even adapt some stations for example from 2001 (e.g. StationV). :thumbup:

I will gladly provide all the meshes(max files) as I re-make each, the good news is even though there are over 300 objects on Gateway Station, there are only 68 specific types which include the station fleet like ATV, HTV, MPLM and so on.

I started a new thread for Gateway, see ya there.

Dude you did a great job, but aren't these mostly fictional?

I want more realistic like Space Stations, though the celestiums are nice, I'd like something a little lower down on the time line if you get what I am saying.

Piper also has [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2857"]this[/ame] space station modules addon. There is also the [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4043"]Station mods[/ame] addon.

those along with quite a few others at OH and on Mustards site should allow for quite a range of space station configurations

Of course, there aren't a lot of space stations nowadays in space. ;)

But then, you could try to use the different modules mentioned. You could assemble the ISS with them, so just arrange them different, and you got a mars space station or whatever in your prefered timeframe.

btw:
Something that fits maybe more in your timeframe is the [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2067"]ET Station[/ame], which bases on a concept of NASA to use the external Shuttle tank as a space station, once in space.

Don't forget the my ESA MTFF station project:

It is realistic (ISS tech actually) and I can imagine it in lunar orbit or used docked with the other modules mentioned.

One of the upcoming ISA projects is a lunar orbiting fuel depot. It'll have solar arrays, two fuel tanks and a small module with emergency supplies. It's 'near future' tech and will be made out of space station module components.

also World of 2001 has several space stations included, though if I remember correctly, it doesn't work in O2010

This looks interesting?!, are there more modules in the add-on? or is it just what you see in the preview pic?

Mustard's site has tonnes of real/realistic space station modules:
http://www.orbiterfrancophone.com/

I looked at those, and while thay are all great, I'm not sure they were meant to be assembled on the scale that I took Gateway Station to. Sure you could assemble several in-line segments and hubs, but would they really be structuraly re-inforing to one another like Gateway is? Probably not without external trusses to tie them together.

On a side note the trusses on Gateway are just for the MBS and RMS systems, they do nothing for the structural integrity of the station.

Keep those suggestions comming.

Ping Grover, are there other specs you had in mind for space stations? Small but with lots of docking capacity, or large like ISS and GWS?
