Discussion Space: 1999 updates ?

Looks great! Will the cockpit be visible from an external view like this:
eagle4.png

Also, which version of the Eagle did you settle on using?

Ben

My personal preference is to have the cockpit windows black. Having it visible makes things inconsistent if you EVA or drive around in the moonbuggy (and with the future VC). This is because of the cockpit astronaut's scale and position. So It's simpler just to not show it. If you look at my latest image, all the windows are black at it just looks better that way.

As far as I can tell, all the eagles use the same textures and meshes (or just renamed ones). So my repaint will apply to all eagles.

As for the VC, I'll have to choose one spacecraft.dll version... I'm also considering repacking the different and sometimes outdated spacecraft.dll Eagles around into something more consistent and updated, using spacecraft3.dll with VC and sounds.

Time is always the problem, I still have some stuff Gatisspilot sent me to test  and give feedback. And with UCGO, UMMU, and new Orbiter version around the corner I'm struggling to keep up to date.

Update:

I'm really close to releasing the Eagle repaint. It will also improve the pad texturing and some of Alpha's exterior walls. Here's a preview:

Here are 3 images from projects of mine. One is a stand alone Alpha Pad. The interior of the pad has been hollowed to allow storage of an Eagle,.... It has an airlock for Ummu on the far end of the rectangular building. The other is of the travel Tube Car. I hope to use it with Displacement Booths to move around the base. Once I get the pad done then I will rotate the whole thing and fit in a new Moonbase. The car is the rough image so I need to make some material emmissive changes..... I fudged on the floor so you could walk through. It should have a ramp like the Eagle module You can see the pad lowered down. It will use attachment points to attach a Eagle,...

Here are some new images:
Travel car interior. Still need to work on material color. This is placed inside my Alphapad. Notice she can breathe

2 images of the eagle in the pad area. I think it might be facing the wrong direction.

In the hangar area. You can see the travel tube station to the left of the pad.

It is there it is not lit up. I need to tune down the emmissive some.

It's released!

"Space:1999 Eagle repaint (10-02-06)

These are replacement high resolution textures for several Eagle transporter addons. As most versions use
the same meshes, this addon can be used with many versions of the Eagle.

It will give the most popular Eagle addons for Orbiter space simulator a consistent look. All textures were sourced from photos of the original studio models and feature fine detailing. Also, Moonbase Alpha's landing pads and walls were updated, again based on screenshots from the series and model photos

Please backup you original textures because they will be overwritten.

Download from Orbiter Hangar[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4479"] here[/ame].

Here are some images of what I am working on. For UMMU2.0 a new suit and not suited Space99 person. The travel tube car. I am using displacement booths and a new mesh.

Here is another usable space on the Moonbase Alpha rework. It is one of the cone shaped Flammable storage unit. But it is now a garage for buggies. It has a displacement travel car and airlock.

You need to add more triangles or smooth the surface using normals... Check the material and export settings on your 3D software.
But I guess more geometrical detail might be enough.

Cool looking guy, but perhaps he should look a little more inflated

Thanks. I use anim8or not sure how to smooth using normals. HAve you tried the new cone station

I like the new pad, conestation and airlocks (check the textures were, they are reversed). It works just fine :tiphat:!
Just a suggestion: the travel tube entrance is too closed and looks like a box:

Can you show more of the travel tube? It has a nice round mesh. Perhaps you can make the box open above the "travel tube" signals. Also, put some black round area in the back wall were the tube is supposed to go. As it is, it really looks as a teleport :P.

Finally, use the artwork here http://www.space1999.net/eagle/graphics.html for the signals on doors, walls, etc. The original author, Roberto Baldassari, gives permission if credited. I'm using his work for the Main mission interiors.
There are lots of graphics, including a Moonbase destination chart and an embarkation point sign that you should put somewhere.
Interesting graphics from my point of view:

Just some suggestions, keep up the good work, looking good as it is!

Thanks. I saw the reverse textures. On the station, I can make it wider. The doors of the tube can't open but just the station doors. There a black mesh at the end /front of the station where the car is.

I can remove the top of the station also. and have the tube of the wall be where that sign is.

I can use the airlock signs the traveltube sign wouldn't be functional as the car can go any where.

Maybe like this. A the map of the travel tube network on the outside or inside? on each 3 walls. One issue is by extending the station forward it might hit the pad elevator. So I might need to scale the pad housing bigger to allow for that.

Here are some new images of the suited Ummu for Space1999 suits. I think I might be done with this.

Looks good. Put the travel tube map on the outside.
