I have been asked about Skylab. I am using Skylab 1973 mesh with permission. I am working on an interior. But I am struggling with fitting an interior into the exterior.

BUT the interior does not follow that. Being the grid on the floor is rotated slightly off center. I can build it like that. When looking down the grid will be off.

The airlock module has 4 small windows they are 37.5 degrees off center.

In the mesh the texture of the MDA is wrong as it has the windows at the docking end.

I got some things redone. Still got questions.
are there hand rails on the exterior??
Seems like there should be more on the bottom of the MDA?

Hatches. I think there are at least 3 types of hatches.
1. there is a hatch cover at the top of the dome.
2 there are 2 hatches on either side of the airlock.
3 hatches at the docking ports?
Not sure what they should look like?

Thanks. It looks like alot of stuff around the airlock. But I guess there are some around the sides of the MDA module

I don't think so. Why should there be a handhold?

More interior. and more questions?

Lots of things in the shroud area. I suppose an attachment on the foot restraint? If I had a good mesh of the suit I would put one in the restraints. The meshes I have are all bent and the the suit should have arms down and knees straight.

EVA handrails are blue?

At least on the Skylab replica, they are blue. The internal ones can also be repositioned on demand. Do you have the firemans pole?

Ok. I will go thru the manuals. They may say color,....

Fireman's pole. where was it?

They are blue

Skylab didn't have many EVA hand holds like the ISS only a ladder to reach the ATM and golden slipper up there for the feet
I think the ladder is white now there must of been some kind of hand hold to get to it

Is the golden slipper the foot restraints?

I can add that to the eva bay. The ladder and other things I can add just got to know where they go.

Trying to find some good images,.... But it looks like the shroud may just cover the outside of the eva area?? As there are framework,......

Add the hand rail on the front of the ATM and some side rails. But I think I need to remove tha area in red around the eva hatch. It looks like it should be open.

Yes the Golden Slippers were mounted inside the solar disc as foot restraints
not really very good pictures from the Skylab EVAs
Pic 1 is the position of the golden slippers
pic 2 shows the ladder up to the ATM
Pic 3 shows that it was blue

you might think after NASA's grainy almost hard to see TV of the Apollo 11 Moon walk and the coverage of the Apollo 15, 16 and 17 EVA's that NASA would have shared better TV coverage from Skylab EVA's. Yes NASA had no TDRS sats at the time so it would have been on and off but what I have seen of them was shot from inside the MDA and not outside where the action was. you would think NASA could have placed a camera like used on the J missions controlled by ED Findale and taken us along from the ride

As I understand it there should be a blue ladder between the solar panels.

Also there is a window in front of the docking port on the bottom.

And it is open around the airlock. So you should be able to see the top of the dome.

What I don't understand is on the docks are Drogue covers. Shouldn't there be docking targets also. Not sure if you should be able to see the exterior of the docking hatch?

Trying to figure these brackets.
It seems the hatch would hit them

Which brackets do you mean? Also, do you use the proper shape of the hatch?

The truss that connect to the tunnel and skirt.
I think the hatch is good. The octagon plate may not be true square. then the truss will be thinner?

maybe this. Hatch is open 90 degrees.
The original 1973 skylab had the hatch rotate at 90 degrees.

Can you highlight the collisions? Also the real door is much thicker.

And yes, the octagon isn't actually that large compared to the cylinder and the sides are more even of length than in your model.
