It's a great sentiment, but try finding a managment software for security cameras that supports tape recording and playback.

Isn't this software called "Technician 2.1".

...when a customer complains that a harddisk provided by your company for 24/7 video recording "is already broken after only 5 years!"

...and you explain to them that best practices surrounding document retention suggest only keeping 3 years of data to avoid eDiscovery findings during possible litigation holds, so they should technically be swapping the hard drive out every 3 years and erasing and/or destroying the old one...

It's not archive storage. I'm not sure the harddisk that can store the HD video footage of 5 years has been built yet.

Hmm... maybe I should take a stab at it... I'm pretty good at building HUMONGOUS thingies....

The trouble with kids: Just prepending sudo before a request doesn't make them any more likely to do it. And they don't give a darn about permissions either.

Ha, I wish I could separate their environment from critical processes!

Its easy. Just install a firewall. And then a second. And put alligators with lasers on their head between the firewalls. Don't use lava, children can jump over it. And finally, put their mother behind the final door.

Protip: Unix is ***not*** where you want to learn parenting skills. If CPS hears you talking about killing zombie children...

My ship just arrived in Port Everglades and I am going to be in town until we head home to Buzzards Bay Monday AM. Looking to rent a car to get up to KSC either tomorrow or Sunday. I hear CRS-10 is on the pad!

While on the ship I occupied myself watching a lot of movies. I finally saw Star Wars Episode VII. I didn't realize that the Empire was referring to the British Empire, as it seemed everyone had a British accent. The sun truly does not set on the British Empire, at least not until the Star-Killer Base finishes charging.

No one expects the Star Trek Insurrection!

It was an odd number, so you could kinda see it coming

Imagining the conversation in the truck from 8:50 - 9:50 has me in tears.

The video is all the same spot in Durham, North Carolina.

Looks like the 8 inches are always 8 inches too much....

Seriously.... how?! Here, we have a simple light metal box hanging in front of a low tunnel at the same height... if you can't fit below the metal bar, don't even think about the tunnel. Is this some kind of American humor?

Or something like that:

There are just way too many underpasses in the US for something like that to be put everywhere. Besides, in many of thee cases the underpass is right next to an intersection, so there's nowhere to put that. I've seen it used for train tunnels, I think, though.

Basically, there are signs telling you ahead of time what the height restriction is, and the driver is responsible for knowing the height of his own vehicle, even if it's a rental truck. Get stuck, get a citation, probably get charged for fixing the bridge. And your insurance company will be pleased as well.

That thing they hit? That IS the safety guard. It's made from some rather stout square steel tubing, because American drivers are idiots.
This bridge, which I've heard called "the can opener bridge", has even made the national nightly news...

Re #23199 above.

Excellent stuff, I'm guessing the two with the straw-bales on the back are self-employed? The second driver must be now. The guy who came back after he thought about it later, a touch of genius(08:50, last clip).

If that happened in the UK, about 1 in 3 would have had other vehicles in the back of them. Lots drive too close here.
