That's so sad - and yet so familiar

Its mostly annoying. We could already have all done and signed. But no, the customers project manager does not follow company processes.

Funnily, we already sell story points to him, while still having to provide classic project plans instead of using Scrum like we developers and his superiors want. With Scrum, I would just have said "Expect about four 30 day sprints" ... now its going to be 5 months.

The only thing to replace an A-10 is another A-10...

Things learned today:

The many-worlds interpretation basically just says that noone bothered to write a garbage collector for the universe.

I've seen papers that attempt to make one (deterministic merging of of split universes, similar to faynman's integral), but can't find them on the spot.

That sounds like the copenhagen interpretation, the other mainstream interpretation of quantum physics.

Or, get someone to design and build a Radial engined dedicated CAS platform, instead of a jet powered one. Less complicated maintenance, can take a greater beating, and is cheaper to produce and maintain.

Good luck placing the GAU-8. ;)

Stick it through the prop hub, like Bell did. What could possibly go wrong?

 Or something like this?:

If you want that gun in the nose, I think you need a jet in the back. I can't see a way around that.

And less capable - the two jet engines let it carry its gun. This one got replaced by the A-10 and the A-10 had to prove it was worth it:

My dad served aboard a carrier in the Vietnam era, and they operated Skyraiders such as that. He told me some great stories about seeing them recover in the dark night and the blue glow around the exhaust ring was plainly visible in the dark. Skyraider pilots loved those planes and swore by them. Last of the piston-engined monsters, made life miserable for enemy ground troops and even bagged a MiG jet fighter in a guns kill.

The first 14 minutes of this video document the air to air kill of a MiG-17 by 2 Spads (aka A-1 Skyraider's nickname).

What I learned today: Building a dwarf fortress under a glacier is nearly impossible. No Water, No Wood, No Soil, No Food.
