Was shopping for a rain jacket two weeks ago and heard a Christmas song on the PA system. I just dropped the jacket and walked out of the store.

That's the spirit!

Look, I know Christmas is tough, but if we band together we can defeat it.

Progress on my new computer:

All my recovered files were inaccessible. No idea how to change the permissions, but a message to Western Digital (who made my external HD) pointed me in the right direction. So ends that particular crisis.

But I still don't know how to fix the browser bookmark thing. I suspect it's the same issue. Whatever file the bookmarks are stored in needs to have the "owner" changed, but I don't know where to look. Hopefully WD will answer that, too.

And then there's good old Microsoft and their "Improved" office BS, which is now apparently a subscription service. I'm going to try to load my copy of Office2003, which reportedly works with Win 10.

I have to figure out how to access my old email address book, too. That must be some kind of backup file as well, I'm guessing.

I'm still using Office 2010. Never going to go for that 'X as a service' BS.

Random thought: I got a little quadcopter a few weeks ago and after learning to fly it it's a blast to zoom around an open field.

Be aware that it is not a plane, and forward flight (and especially change of direction in forward flight) aerodynamics can be unexpected.

It's recorded directly from an FPV camera.
Analog camera, digitized, transmitted, converted to analog, digitized, recorded.
All made in China, so the bugs compounded.

Never heard of a directly-digital FPV camera or FPV receiver with a digital output, or a small monitor with a digital input.

Never had a chance to look at any quadrocopter internals before. So the vertical scan problem is caused by camera's bug?

The vertical scan is the recorder's artifact - on screen it looks almost perfect.
There are surprisingly few DVRs that are small enough to carry around comfortably, and they are either expensive or crappy.
Guess which one i bought. :)
Does not really matter that much, since i was planning to put a gopro clone on the thing, and this recording is just for debugging and telemetry.

Why has nobody yet tried to play German military marches on E-guitar? :hmm:

The crash of FPV quadrotor - YouTube

Interesting. My quadcopter is very lightweight and the gyro stabilization is amazing. If I cut the throttle it starts to tumble and settles into an inverted attitude as it falls, but as soon as I gun the throttle it flips upright like a cat finding his feet.

And the helicopter parents are coming in to inquire why their precious snowflakes, the issue of their golden wombs, are failing all of their courses.

It can't be that they don't come to class and don't do homework; it must be my fault! Note to self - can't tell parents that their child is a gross ignoramus (they're 144X worse than a regular ignoramus).
