Listening to an incredible baseball game. LA Dodgers up 11-0 over the SF Giants! Go Dodgers!

Yay, someone might not get beat half to death in the parking lot at the end of the game :D

Dodgers up 17-0 now! Game for the history books...

From the Jet Class pits this morning...

Also, that race between Strega and Voodoo... Holy :censored:!

Even Bob Hoover said "My God" at the finish.

Too bad Strega looked like this afterwards:

(By the way... that's not normal. He called MAYDAY right after the finish.)

That's it, Dodgers win it 17-0. Most lopsided win in the rivalry.

I had some expieriences with lousy customer support in my life, but German Wings just took the cake. And I think (really, really hope) that noone will ever be able to take it from them again.

My Wife needs to book a flight. So last wednesday, she calls the callcenter. The callcenter is not available. Busy tone all day.

So she sends an email via the widget on the website. On clicking send, she gets a 404.

Digging out the email address from the contacts, she send a mail. She gets a reply 2 days later.

The reply goes along the lines of "we're sorry you were having trouble to reach our callcenter, your case will be forwarded to one of our personal customer advisors. We will strive to reply to your inquiry within the next four weeks."

Today, the call center finally picked up the phone. She explained what she needed (booking a flight, with an airline, for crying out loud), and got promptly redirected. She's now waiting for whoever she got redirected to to pick up the phone for 15 minutes. The minute, of course, costs us 0.2 Euro.

Do these people think customers are optional??

They're delaying customer "flow" until BER gets opened. Don't worry, it's just a couple more years.

Nah, LH took the cake during the pilot's strike.

They cancel your flight, and tell you to call customer support to cancel or rebook -- but the first thing they did was disconnect all phones in customer support. Then one day later they send you an SMS telling you that you have been rebooked -- despite the fact that you've already filled out a web form saying that you cancel your booking and want your money back.

Getting my money back required writing a letter to Frankfurt enumerating several violations of Passenger Right's directive. Once they got that though, they were very quick to refund.

In my experience that is the case with a lot of companies/businesses/whatever. If there is just 1% who aren't willing/knowing about the possibility to take that step they made a gain out of it. And there aren't just 1%.

Can't really blame them though. It's not like I don't do the same with them. "Didn't deduct the money? Sweet. *next month* Deducted twice the amount? Bastards! *phone call*":shifty:

Jenna-Louise Coleman, such a pretty lady.

Ahem... Anyway, for those of you guys that are fans of Keith Laumer's BOLO series of cybernetic killing machines (seriously, what's not to love about that?), Amazon has a book; The Chronicles of Old Guy, currently free in Kindle edition (I read on my android phone at work). It's pretty decent (and did I mention free?).

After the fusion constant ([math]F = {6.3072} \times {10}^{8} s[/math], the time from now to the first working fusion reactor), we are already talking about the possible existence of a BER constant.

Ironically, BER is also the acronym of the nuclear reactor, that required a redesign of the approach routes 18 years after the planning started. The BER II reactor is operating there since 1973, while the BER I was active between 1958 and 1972. A fellow soldier during my tour of duty, who we called "Homer", was a former operator of the reactor and had decorated the room with pictures of "his" reactor.
