Does anybody know a downloadable, easily parsable database of surfase features of Mars? Orbiter kind of has a really nice one, but there's so much stuff missing... at some points there's a lot of craters that aren't even visible on a Lvl8 texture, and in other places there are huge craters not marked at all... a bit more completion would be kind of nice.

But even that might change. A few years ago, it was technically illegal to upload still pictures of German street scenes. Now its enough to remove the license plates from it.

Forgive me if this is a silly question, but why exactly would that be illegal?

Privacy laws ... we Germans are very touchy about it. We own the rights on our persona and estate. Even if US companies with US or Irish privacy laws try to erode it.

And no... not Cold War ... Nazi and Stasi are the key influences there.

Currently preparing my XR5-01, with many provisions in its large cargo bay, and setting the destination to Brighton Beach.

We run all to Brighton Beach! (or Olympus Mons base if necessary:shifty:)

Greetings !, peaceful humanity.

The popular German actor Joachim Fuchsberger died today at the age of 87, coincidentially when they are about to show his last movie "Neues vom WiXXer" (a parody on the German Edgar Wallace movies, where Joachim Fuchsberger starred) in TV. The movie was the first (and now last) movie of him after 33 years.

Note to myself: Only play Cards against Humanity with people with similar humour to you. Come on, "Boy Scouts" is an invitation to make those jokes...

Not only that, they were extremely useful in providing data for scientists studying the Chelyabinsk meteor last year. The footage let them map the vectors and make calculations on the orbit, and find the landing site leading them to fragments.

Speaking of Chelyabinsk and dash-cams:

Instant karma:
1. Punk slams a door in my friend's face while I pick him up from work.
2. Seconds later, another guy in the same group accidentally crushes his styrofoam cup, spilling soda all over door-slammer and the interior of his car.

It was hard to not laugh until they were out of earshot. To make it even better, cup-crusher apologised to me for also spilling soda on the exterior of my car while it is was raining.

I believe that was the video that spawned the dashcam discussion in the first place. :P

Always worth seeing again, though.

Sacrificed some sleep today to go downtown Chattanooga to see a visitor to the waterfront. A WWII LST, (she participated in the D-Day invasion) post-war decommissioned, reactivated, eventually sold to Greece, decommissioned and sat to rust.

A bunch of old guys got together and bought her. After a long overhaul they sailed her from Greece to Mobile, Al for some drydock. Now she's as good as new.

Leaving the riverfront I saw a pretty cool artwork. Thought some of you guys might appreciate it.

Soon as I read the letters 'LST,' I knew you had to be talking about LST 325 :) Her current home dock is about 45 min away from me in Evansville, IN.

Toured her with my father and brother not long after she arrived in EVV back in the early 2000's. Very, very cool.
