I just had a few hours of Civ IV with the mod "Road to War" where you can play as a nation in the second WW. The nations enter war at the real date, so China was at war with Japan since 1937, while I've been Australia, which enters war with Japan after Pearl Harbor. State of Affairs in the Summer of 1941: China had been conquered, Thailand (which allies with Japan and attacks French-Indochina in 1940) had conquered France.
So, Australia came to straighten things up and conquered a lot of Japan's pacific isles, while the US conquered Honshu in the Summer '42. Plannings are now to continue the conquest of the pacific isles and then make a huge invasion, landing in South Korea and split up in two Armies to retake Manchuria, another landing at three spots in Bangladesh (where the British lost ground to Japan:facepalm:), Bangkok and Saigon, leading to a two-front-war against China (well, Japanese-occupied-China). But the plannings are somehow dangerous, I have to prepare 5 armies capable of winning against Japanese forces and have to assure that no one drops behind.

I hope my harddrive will explode in case of an uncertain death, I don't want that someone has to read in the newspapers about "Operation Retake Mandschuko" with the forces "Group South" and "Group Sowjet Stop" (The Sowjets would declare war to Japan in 1945, northern Manchuria should be retaken by then) or "Operation Allied South" with Group Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar:shifty:

I remember that mod. I remember playing as the British, and managed to save France from the Germans, but I got distracted by Denmark being invaded, so I focused on that. But when I came back to southern France, the Germans had side-stepped my army and conquered all of it from the Italian border to Bordeaux, except for the one square my army was standing on.:facepalm:
Needless to say, it was embarrassing that they just walked in strait in front of my army.

L.A. Noire, Alan Wake, Skyrim and Uncharted:thumbup:

Now this is a list I can get with. Your taste in games is impeccable.

Throw in Max Payne (Alan Wake's spiritual ancestor), Portal, and FSX.

And Civlization.

And Sim City (which is coming out again, sweet).

Those are all I need. Everyone else can keep the CoDs, and the Battlefields. I have no use for them.

And Mass Effect. Broke my heart, and I will never forgive them.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I love Simcity, but the last one (Societies) was a real disappointment. I hope the new one will be more like Simcity 4 (that was the best one IMHO)

The new SimCity looks EPIC! Less spreadsheet more actual simulation.

Myth & Myth 2 anyone ? Those are amongst my greatest gaming souvenirs... VERY epic battles, awesome ambiance (you were entering each battle with a "we're all gonna die" feeling) and music.

Myth 3 was promising, but the developpement team ran out of money, the studio closed, and they released what should have been a beta version, many many bugs... Too bad.

Crysis: Download some high resolution textures (you can find some nice ones out there) and it looks like new. The gameplay was open and interesting- much better than the linear maps of Crysis 2.

Crytek: Crysis 3 needs to be more like Crysis! And CryEngine 4 has to be something new! Not just dumbed down for consoles...

Didn't they say early on crysis 2 would practically be a sandbox game?

The new Simcity is going to use EA's idiotic Origin. EA seems to taint everything it touches.:(

You obviously haven't played Crysis 2.

You're right. I haven't*. But I remember hearing early interviews about the game, and crytek had said something along the lines of it would be a sandbox game. Hence the first facepalm =p

*I have placed Crysis 1, though.
