I tried it, but it struck me as too liberal. When I played America, I could succeed only up to the point where the Soviets invade Iran. At that point, if I back down, they get a point lead I will never beat. But if I tell them to step off, they nuke me
And forget playing as the Russians. I can't believe an American wrote that game. The AI controlled U.S. is absolutely insane and will not let you do anything without threatening to blow you off the planet.

Wat, in one move? can't be done. g7 to g5 is the only possible move resulting in check, and you can't give checkmate without giving check. I can see several moves that result in checkmate in a succession. 2 Moves if White is stupid enough to move King to g4 when threatened by Knight's Pawn at g5, which would be astonishing, but that's the fastest. It's possible that there's a sure-fire way to mate in 2 moves that I'm missing, but 1 move just doesn't work, unless the rules have changed :shifty:

I'm real excited about The Dark Knight Rises and Skyfall. If they are anything like the two before them, both will attempt to portray their subject manner in a believable fashion, and will be well made and directed. No ridiculous overuse of special effects, natural, realistic dialogue; things which respect viewers' intelligence (for those with one!) and their content.

Remember that science fiction movie from 1990? Total Recall? Well, Hollywood is deploying their money-collecting solar sails for a remake of that too*, as if there weren't enough remakes already.

I'll admit, the trailer did kind of look interesting. What did you guys think?

*Oh goodness... just thinking about this made me through up mentally...

From what I hear, the 'remake' is not a remake at all, but instead follows a different storyline than that of the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.

What scares me more than remakes are sequels.

Messing about in Spaceway, found a rather large star, 1720 times the luminosity of the Sun and 13.1 times its size. Unfortunately that's about the most interesting thing so far, beyond the included scenarios. Quite a journey to get there from the 'default' scenario's system.

When I first learned to output to files in java, I accidentally generated a file a few GB in size. Opening a text file larger than your RAM is a BAD idea. (in fact, even a few MB takes a lot of freezing for Notepad )

Well, it does have a marked lack of anything to play with.
It's a nice programmer's toy, but it would take years of effort i'm unlikely to waste to make it into a playable and interesting game i've fancied it to become.
