Move the contents of Config\Pollux-Castor to Config\multistage. I think that it will work, but I don't have Orbiter at the moment so it's untested.

Well, it was there, but...disassembled... :hide:

Anyhow it's back now. I'll test.

EDIT: I tried it myself, and it worked fine without moving any files. N72.75, are you sure you have Multistage2 installed? Do other Multistage2 vessels work fine? The error usually seems to mean that either it's not finding the vessel's files, or that it can't find Multistage2 itself.

I've checked the addon's structure. It should work fine.
As it's written in the readme, first make sure, that you have installed the multistage2 properly. I think after this POLLUX-CASTOR should work to you as well.

This is what I have:

I just installed it like I normally would. It's worked in the past.

According to the log, you don't have Multistage2 correctly installed as Orbiter can't find the config file for Multistage2. So check that you have Multistage2.cfg in Config\Multistage.

nice addon and nice rocket.
But the second and third stage have an ISP (calculated by me) of 1000/1500 sec. Not, as stated, "a new type of liquid fuel": this is a real nuclear rocket! :)

I made the second stage as big as the first one, but with smaller engine whitch eats less fuel per second to burn for longer time... and the third one is even less powerful to burn for even longer...

It has unrealistic fuel effectivity, that's right. But it isn'ť so much unrealistic, is it?:hmm:

Is unrealistic only in the fuel effectivity (the ISP of the most efficient Lox/LH2 rocket engines is in range of 450/470 seconds. Your engines are three/four times more efficient). But is a good design. I like it very much! Is inspired by the Long March chinese rockets?

It's mostly my own design concept, but the overall design is slightly inspired by the Mercury-Redstone rocket. The color scheme is inspired by the Saturn V.:stirpot:

4550 m/s for the SSME, or 4730 m/s for the AEC:

http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/19850008691_1985008691.pdf

The AEC is essentially a RL-10 on steroids.

PFFFF......

too complicated numbers for me:eek:h:

Anyway, I'll probably have to learn something about it, because I'm already working on a new own family of commercial LV's. (this time as realistic as possible). I'm trying to have totally different approach to the new one. It will be inspired by the H-II, Ariane 4, PSLV or Long March 3B rockets.
Mostly by the Long March 3B and the Ariane 44L.

But again, no programming. Good old mulstistage2 and spacecraft3 only.

Errrrr... that just the numbers that are punched into Orbiter... I don't know that multistage2 uses seconds for specific impulse.

I still don't understand the discrepancy in units for ISP between different systems. How can the same variable be measured as both seconds or metres/seconds?

4440 m/s...or 453 seconds. http://www.astronautix.com/engines/ssme.htm

(i prefer thinking in terms of ISP and seconds)

a realistic burn time for a rocket stage in the multistage config file can be precisely established by given ISP for the propellant and the engine ipotized in that stage (thanks to encyclopedia astronautica) and the propellant capacity.

m/s are the result is you reduce "impulse per kg" (N*s/kg).

seconds are a common error if you use US units, since you need to divide lb of force by lb of weight there, despite actually needing slugs as unit of mass. by this, you can arrive in seconds, but actually did have reduced it too much and used assumptions that are not mentioned in the unit (weight force at surface of Earth instead of mass). It should be in reality: lb*s/slug not lb*s/lb
