To be honest...I actually can't really care for the olympics this year. don't know why. I even missed my favorite sports.
You sound tired, I'm a bit concerned. You need holidays. Without the kids
there's been some scandal that is just perfect to offend you specifically.
Yes, that's the whole point of modern (now contemporary) art. It's not even new. In 1917
Marcel Duchamp was exposing
an urinal labeled 'Fontaine' in a New-Yorker art museum catalog, under a pseudo. It was pure scandal. Decades after, he was still telling to the many journalists that kept interviewing him, trying to understand, that there was precisely nothing to understand. He was surprised and genuinely amused it was such a huge deal. A century later the '
ready made' artistic movement is created is an 'has-been' thing. Thank God art is not only about marble and classical paintings, it is a living thing that evolves in unpredictable ways.
I get that conservatives might have been offended by some performances this year, but I think it is actually a good meter of the health of a democratic society that such performances and 'scandals' are possible without people ending into an arctic prison.
My understanding is that there's a bipartisan feeling among the French that it's a waste of their taxpayer dollars
I was thinking like that before the games actually started. But now I must say I'm quite impressed things are going so smoothly, and people I see around me are reacting the same way. Even old people in their 70's usually always bitching about something.
I don't feel robbed of anything. I mean, the schools, hospitals an power plants are still running. Sure it could be better, it always can be.
and by all accounts this iteration is a s

tshow.
I think calling the Olympic Games a
s... is a very slippery slope.
