I really hope the black boxes show something more helpful, right now everything feels like a madman was sitting on the side stick.

Yes. It might be a cultural issue, I know similar problems with hierarchy from Indian coworkers. But still, I wonder what the CVR did record there. Did the copilot at least question the weird decisions?

They had some serious smash going on before they...smashed. They were at 220 kts on short final, applied thrust reversers and brakes with the engines scraping down the runway, and even then were able to throttle up and take off again. If they simply skidded to a halt at this point a lot of lives might have been saved.



That quick cycle of the landing gear handle afterwards must have been quite the moment. :facepalm:
