Orbiter Video Thread

Hi
I'm testing my new equipment (joystick, throttle) and discovered that I could control Delta Glider in helicopter manner.

Not directly Orbiter related, but very interesting if you want to get a real feel of how it was to fly the LM:

The onboard audio is very clear - you can hear switches and RCS pulses.

Another one of my videos (from my secondary Youtube channel), this time highlighting the Atlas ignition (early Atlas).
There are also some segments showing booster separation.
The sequences were taken at about 400fps, presented here at 60fps...

Might be interesting if you wish to model exhaust, particles and separation in detail ;)

I made a new channel for Orbiter-related stuff.

Here's a quick demo.

Apollo 7 NASSP 8 Beta in Orbiter - YouTube

Nice video, but some more explanation about what you are doing there might be nicer.

Also I think you had not properly initialized the EMS scroll, the range was a bit too short compared to the real flight parameters.

Yeah, it was just something I threw together quick, using a broken sceneriao in Orbiter 2016, not in Orbiter Beta.

It was more just a check of the visuals recording software. I recorded a voice over but my gains were too high, and it clips in a few places.

Probably will delete and make an actual channel trailer, but that will require more effort...

Well, maybe just make a version 2.0 of the same video. The content appears good, using a reentry is a good point to explain quite a lot about Orbiter and capsules, but if you have no idea what Project Apollo is and which procedures you follow, it might get confusing what actually happens there and which parameter shows what. You know, even the checklist MFD in the screen is not really self-explanatory.

What about introducing some explaining cards into the video, like in a silent movie? I know what I see there, but somebody else might just see lots of switches and numbers.

Also a small recap of the indicators that are important for the video in the beginning might be nice.

Managed to rework a lot of the Arrow in c++ this time. Also added a few more things that I wanted.
There is still a lot to do before any kind of release (after I get Dan's blessing of course).
I had been working on an mmu based on Fred's GV, but with Woo announcing the release of ommu, I'll wait to see if I can add that to the ship instead.
With USCO, I should be able to add cargo support, so I think we are on the right track.

This is fantastic, along with the autopilots, this is a very sophisticated ship. Can't wait for you to release so we can try it out. Was that Pursuit MFD you used to line things up and go from orbital to sub-orbital?

Yes it was, after IMFD had me on the correct orbit, passing over the landing site. I let Baseland take care of the last couple of km, because PursuitMFD kept missing the pad.

And some good news: Dan is back! And he has begun to update his addons!

I see that, will you still develop your version of the Arrow. Some of the screens and interfaces are nicely done.

I learned a lot with this project, but I don't think that I am close to the experience that Dan provided with the complete UCGO addon.
Since he is updating it for Orbiter 2016, then there isn't much reason to continue with this.

I do have something else in mind though, and the skills that I picked up with this project, will prove invaluable in the next one. Will share when I have something more concrete in my hands.

Hey dgatsoulis can you please put a bug in Dans ear about your Arrow landing bay grapple hooks,I like this idea very much.

Absolutely! It makes a lot of sense, since Orbiter2016 supports docked landed vessels. (The grapple uses a moving attachment first to grab the ship and then moves it to the dock, where the attchment is released and the dock is applied).
I'll try to model a nicer mesh over the weekend and ask Dan if he 'd like to implement it on the 2016 version of the Arrow.

Nice videos @fausto ! Got yourself a subscriber :)

PS - Those Bud Spencer tracks :) !
Quite popular movies on video rentals during the 1990's around here. Brings back memories of nice afternoons during school vacation...
