A bit more progress made ... trying to stay subtle ... not quite succeeding ... coming along, though.

(1st one was initial attempt ... 2nd and 3rd were after looking a bit more at some hi-res shuttle pics ... still to do, cargo bay, finish the engines, landing gear, and belly ... )

... I think I might actually try to finish this skin up for release.

Took a nice flight to the ISS this morning! Didn't even notice AIA below (where I took off from) until I finished making edits to the photo!

what hardware/addons are you runnng? and at what altitude. my orbiter experience never looks as good as that

My morning flight (5am) to the moon. Quite a lovely way to help yourself wake up than some nice orbital mechanics and the brilliant sight of the moon. Had some trouble with IMFD - I still don't quite understand BaseAproach, and my fiddling with it threw me of course once or twice, thus putting me in an orbit plane nowhere near brighton - and with only about 30% fuel left, changing planes and landing seemed impossible without risking the entire crew. Home looked out of reach as well. Looks like i'll be waiting for the ferry.

...not a very decent picture of deorbit of Mir...I didn't that there was a camera function back then. But who cares.

I docked a DeltaIV to it and pointed it towards the Earth, it detached from Mir so I couldn't get a decent picture.

That's the beta with level 11.
Then...
Step 1. Unpack a fresh installation of orbiter 060929.
Step 2. Download Orbiter Beta v. 080516 from http://orbitervis.wiki.sourceforge.net/OrbiterPublicBeta and extract it in to your orbiter_060929 .
Step 3. Download Earth L11/14 v. 080910 from http://orbitervis.wiki.sourceforge.net/OrbiterPublicBeta and extract it into your orbiter_060929.
Step 4. Download/install: http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2613
Step 5. Download/install: http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2379 (check mark all 5 components to install).
Step 6. Download/DO NOT INSTALL: http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3098. Here is how to install it how I did:
Open up the zip file, do not extract, just double click. Open the text document entitled earth-atmo-dates
Copy everything in the file.
Go into your orbiter_060929 base, and go to Config\Earth.cfg
Highlight === Atmospheric Parameters === and === Cloud Parameters === and paste. It should replace the data in Earth.cfg with the new data from the text document.

You should be good to go. PM me with any problems.

Edit: Oh yeah, altitude is 500k, screen resolution 1440x900, FOV is 40 degrees. Enjoy.
Edit 2: Make sure you have highres clouds installed (level 8, 32MB ish). Get these in earth_060929 level 10 earth tex. from the main orbiter page.
