Orbiter Screenshot Thread

Well - AV-88 draws some inspiration form Avatar's VTOLs and C&C Orca but that particular shot was pointing to Bay's habbit of shooting helicopters in the sunset/sunrise

Wasn't there a spoof in some movie where the heli flew behind the setting sun during the end sequence? I think it was one of the Naked Gun or HotShot movies.

I think it was the final scene in "Hot Shots! part deux".

Sir - are you sure we should install these using ductape?

I wonder. Maybe it all boils down to Michael Bay being a huge fan of the movie Fire Birds.

Jason drop test.

A couple screenshots of [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=6101"]Hlynkacg's AAPO Lunar Stack[/ame] (CSM/LM) in orbit about 100km above the ancient, weathered surface of the far side. It's a lot higher than a typical Apollo orbit, but it makes observation of a broader area possible. Can't quite recall specifically where the spacecraft was flying over when these shots were taken, but I believe it wasn't too far from the western-most edge of the Ocean of Storms.

And here's a panorama, consisting of six individual screenshots and stitched together, looking out across the lunar surface from 100km up. The LM/CSM stack is visible in the near foreground. Click the bar to get a better view. Gotta love OGLA with LROC heightmaps.

Felix24's BMNG textures are fantastic.

Finally got a decent export from Blender, after wrestling with the exporter and the program itself. Reflecting materials are a pain to get right.

Some will certainly recognize the vessel (Libellule or Dragonfly) I've followed the original design, so the RCS doesn't make complete sense. The same goes for the cockpit. I've put the basic structure there, it isn't worth detailing because the pilot's view is completely obstructed by the consoles.

Anyway it's a cool design and there aren't many Once Upon a Time Space vessels around!
