Reentry with shuttle A? Isn't that dangerous as it lacks a heat shield? Do you have a special reentry procedure? Or is it covered with Wondertanium ;-)

Picture perfect landing at Wallops Island. Yeah, I kinda overshot KSC on the re-entry but, well, you get it. Everything went smoothly. Launched Carina into polar orbit using UCD of course. Adjusted planes and waited and performed a retro burn a little too late, but still, no one died and all mission objectives were completed.

Cheers!

Hail to the almighty probe! :hailprobe:

I think you just do a huge de-orbit burn and use the hover engines to control your descent due to the lack of aerodynamic surfaces; though I admit I have never tried to reenter with the shuttle A... :hmm: :)

Well it has to be possible without complete destruction, how else would that cargo drop into the indian ocean scenario work? It had to get there somehow.

Well you can do a proper re-entry if you want but an other way is to just do a direct decent using hover but i prefer proper ;)

If the clouds wouldn't be so blurred, you could really think it was photographed in space. The Earth is actually 90% of the things that ruin the illusion.
