Orbiter Screenshot Thread

Time for some Velcro Rockets craziness.
I got this idea from 'Shuttle to the Moon' thread, and decided to give it a go.

Yes, that is a Saturn V S-1C stage, augumented by 4 S-1C's acting as boosters.
Second stage is another Saturn V S-1C stage, with the Shuttle orbiter with full ET on top.
This stack has enough delta-V to reach near moon orbit, but I realized that it does not have enough dV to brake back into LEO for the Shuttle to reenter safely.
Well, like if stacking S-1C's wasn't crazy enough. :lol:

ESA-Russia joint Mars mission: starting ground operations.

After a day and night securing the MLTV, Yelena Serova becomes first human on the surface of Mars.

Three rendering tests (camera and object position is the same on all three pics):

Atlantis.png

ISS.png

XR5.png

Raytracing time (high, but not best-possible quality):
* Atlantis: 5m
* ISS: 17m
* XR5: 25m

(XR5 texture is screwed up due to, as it seems, missing uv coordinates on some vertices)

could you upload the scenario?

For Sputnik 2 try [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4419"]R-7 Early Missions[/ame]. It is the best by far :thumbup:

Wash: (Off an alarm sounding from the console) "Closing in."
Zoe: "Planet's coming up a mite fast."
Wash: "That's just cause I'm going down too quick. Likely crash and kill us all."
Mal: "Well, that happens, let me know."

add boosters to the shuttle, too, maybe than it works...

Sure, I'll upload it as attachment.
Note: I had trouble with the rocket orientation upon the LRB's separation (spinning fast). You may have to use scenario editor's 'kill angular velocity' function, if that happens.
STTM_Readme.txt has requirements and more notes.

Cool SpaceEngine shots...

SpaceEngine is a really nice program. Though it is buggy, and will never replace Orbiter, it has a niche. (That niche is somewhere between Orbiter, Celestia, and Universe Sandbox.)

Finally decided to make my own little orbiting place called home :)
