I really like the latest version of the good old DGIV.

But here's my vote for the next upgrade:

The interior of the XR2.

Any special occasion for showing it? Im sure most of us have seen it before :P

So, you stitched extra side panels together to go with the quad MFDs? I think the new version does have those MFDs along the sides too.

Please tell me you didn't try and pull a "golden dragon" in a delta glider.

A what? No, I was trying to imitate Carmen's famous XR-2 flythrough of that hangar. Loru also has his "Limbo" at CSSC, but I haven't been able t even get that close to flying under the crane...

No, I think what he was talking about was the ability to show the upper panel without having to switch to it.

Ok, cool. Thought you were trying to reproduce dgatsoulis's famous backward landing of an XR-5 in that hangar :)

I managed to do it inverted in an XR-1. Waaaay to busy to get a screenshot of it or record it. But it seems like I need to do it again

Its on page 28 of the video thread here in the web forum. Most epic landing I've ever seen :)
Btw, don't use page numbers to direct someone to a post, you can give/link someone with the post count. Posts per page is adjustable. I don't even have a page 28. (I use 40 posts per page, like a pro.)

I recorded the run, then took the screenshot during a playback at 0.1X timewarp to get that shot of the "collision". That way, you can focus on not nerfing the exit while doing the pass, then go back and get proof at you r lesiure.

Aha, here's the infamous "Golden Dragon" incident... How'd he do that flip?!?!?

Aaahh... the old "barn-storming", days...
Even though my hot-doging days have past... i can't say that it wouldn't be delightfull to try and do this again, with another XR5 right on my tail...
(Sound is too high, i know... this was a long time ago...)

I dont know, it might be nice as a feature, but I think a lot of people would eventually just end up turning it off. If the DGIV had an internal model, the upper panel would most likely be above you, and as such not visible when looking forwards anyways. It would be neat to have that turned on every now & then, but it obstructs a lot of the users view.

But it shouldnt be unholy difficult to add as a feature so, why not ask Dan. He would probably be happy to add it to the list.

What I would like to see would be a virtual cockpit mesh with no vessel functionality (just for show, like the XR-2 has). If the DGIV could have that, it would be better than the XR fleet IMO.

:dynamite::blink::dynamite:

I do think I see warning messages in the XR5 hud after touchdown though. I would imagine Dgatsoulis at least crunched the landing gear doing that.

That is unreal.

Nope, looks like the RCS Fuel alarm.

Yes, I run out of RCS fuel 1 meter above ground, but it didn't affect the landing, gear didn't collapse.
The only thing that went wrong was that the tip of the right vertical stabilizer actually touched the hangar and the XR5 went through the hangar sign.

I was going through my backups the other day and I found the playback.
I also had the sequence for the cameras when I did the video recording, so if you watch it, you can use the presets from top to bottom. Playback attached on this post, unzip and run the "Playback\XR5 stunt" scenario.

It was made on Orbiter 2006, but it seems to be working ok.
