Some more co-op tonight with Woo482 on Gifield Delta in the Ilippia-Tina VII system. This particular planet was beautiful (and had some wild creatures!)...when it wasn't trying to fry us with superheated rainstorms. :p

Here's another shot on planet Gifield Delta, this time at night with nominal weather:

...and one more shot, this time during the day:

Well, that one I didn't find. There are no outright space odyssey rip-offs in the game. THis one, I built myself.

As for finding the games actual monoliths, there's mostly two ways:

Feed some navigation data into the signal booster and scan for artifacts. It will either give you a plaque, a ruin or a monolith. You'll see what you got when targeting the icon you received, so if it's not a monolith, just try again. Navigation data is pretty easy to come by, after all.

Ask locals for directions. They might point you to anything, but eventually one will show you the location of a monolith.

Found a frozen moon that I LOVE in the Hiyevo V system, so welcome to Fairbanks Station! :)

And at dawn:

The blizzards can get pretty nasty (-152 F), but it's a beautiful moon with a decent supply of Frostwort. :)

It's just a standard foundation under "Structures" -- the same item is used for both round and square rooms. Except for my very first room of a base, I build the room first and then build the foundation under it so it looks right. :p

I'm sure that if they added VR support I'd never leave the game

Doug, you do know that the large structures can only fit one refiner. I usually use cuboid rooms and I have 4 of them in each outpost. My best one so far is a toxic planet with an Emeril deposit next to it.

Paradise Valley base on planet Oriusinir Tokon in the Usumulij system. No storms here!

Interior shot of the main living quarters:

As for large refiners, yes, I'm aware. :) I have found that one or two large refiners is enough for my bases. Gonna try building a huge base with cuboid rooms at some point, but having too much fun exploring for now.

Some shots from the airless, low-gravity planet Itneyr D47 in the Kiyrug system. I created a mini-base here named "Phobos".
