Hello, this did not get into The Aviation Herald yet, but there was a dramatic emergency landing of a German Luftwaffe business jet last week. The pilot had problems to control the aircraft after takeoff and had done a dramatic emergency landing in Berlin, causing quite some disturbance there, which was photographed by a young planespotter there.

The aircraft came right out of maintenance by Lufthansa and was about to be transfered to Cologne-Bonn airport.

As it seems now, this next maintenance incident at the Luftwaffe VIP transport branch (Flugbereitschaft) was caused by a torque tube assembly being installed inverted, that controlled the deployment of the spoilers during roll maneuvers. When the pilot wanted to roll left, the spoilers on the right side deployed, reducing lift on the right wing and causing a strong roll to the right.

The experienced pilot literally managed to land a practically uncontrollable aircraft on the runway again, hitting the ground with both wings in the process.

The large number of problems with the civilian Luftwaffe aircraft has now resulted in the general safety inspector of the Luftwaffe seizing the maintenance documents of Lufthansa.

Sounds like me forgetting to invert the Y axis in a shooter which results in me running into walls while looking at the stars, but this guy somehow adapted and shot the whole lobby to shame.

Pretty impressive to bring her back in one piece.

And this, folks, is why you have someone double check your work before safety wire gets installed and access panels go back on.

Also... Shouldn't a functional check have caught this before the plane was returned to service?
