As if closing of NTRS was not bad enough...

Effective immediately, all education and public outreach activities should be suspended, pending further review. In terms of scope, this includes all public engagement and outreach events, programs, activities, and products developed and implemented by Headquarters, Mission Directorates, and Centers across the Agency, including all education and public outreach efforts conducted by programs and projects.

Give them a week, and they will have closed NASA completely.

If "pro" is the opposite of "con", the the opposite of progress must be congress.

It's a shame to see one of the only places were things truly extraordinary can be done by our species has been cut to almost nothingness.

It's just Obama's administration angle of approach on issues to go out of their way to annoy the maximum number of people so that "public pressure" leads congresscriters to resume spending money they don't have without any other answer to the budget deficit than "Let's tax some more!"

We see that kind of behavior with public sector unions too when they want their candy...

Please remember, this isn't The Basement.

If you want to continue a political discussion about "NASA's Future", there's already a thread for that in The Basement, too.

Indeed...

I put forth a motion to move this thread to the Basement then, because I don't see how we can discuss this issue without, in any way, shape or form, slide neck-deep in the gooish and smelly politics involved... on any side of this issue.

Have you ever read "[News] NASA's Future: The News and Updates Thread", which is full of similar news? This is a spaceflight news thread, too (actually, the news could have been posted in the mentioned thread too, instead of a new thread).

You can continue discussion by using "Multi" quote button and then simply by replying in the "NASA's Future: The War Continues - The political and off-topic discussion" and including what you wanted to quote (there's a link written with tiny text to include quotes from other threads).

This thread on the other hand can be still used for news on the topic and updates.

Or...move the iffy posts to the basement thread, leave this one be, and everybody wins.

Thread closed until further news and updates on the topic are available.

Please continue the discussion in The Basement.
