Hey, Guys
I have an odd request. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in an add-on that portrays our N-Prize Mission we are currently perusing the N-Prize and are registering for the X-Prize in December. Our Mission is a little interesting. We are launching from a balloon platform to space and firing a light gas gun to orbit our small satellite! Contact us at:

I may be,
Is there any pictures available?
There is a discussion thread located in the Off-Topic area (I think) for the N-Prize

Good Luck!!

A company called Media Fusion is working on an anamation of the mission and Our team member Tim is working on some 3D renderings and mechanical drawings. All the above will be posted on the website soon. If you email me at: [email protected] I will make sure you get the graphfics as fast as I get them. Your welcome to Join our team by the way.

I would say, you should start work with the homepage. It looks barely professional as a public construction site. Next, it would be good stating which problems you want to have solved for your guidance, as such a work unit is usually quite multi-discipline, requiring many different specialists in general.

Do you already have a project plan?

You are quite correct! I didn’t know if anyone would be interested! Yes we need help with the website. If I went into details nobody would be interested in the post. There are details believe me we are serious. If your interested in the details the N-Prize group http://groups.google.com/group/n-prize?hl=en
Is where our team discusses them? I apologize for the website so far but we are rocket scientist not Web Masters. We would love to have someone on the team that could help with the website I would turn it over to anyone that would be willing to help! And we have a plan and we have Hardware we are building and testing. We have a static motor test tomorrow if the weather permits.

Anyone interested can contact me at [email protected]
Or [email protected] we have 15-20 active team members at any
one time. From Belgium to Alaska.

Well, I just try to help, but I am currently only one step away from slowing down Earths rotation, just for making the length of day fit to my work. But here are quite a few engineers around who can maybe help you. But some more details about your project would be neccessary... from browsing the group, I could not immediatly tell, if you build a rocket or upgrade an japanese toilet.

What would be a good starter here in the forum, would be posting four diagrams as small presentation:

  • The big picture: How should it finally look like.
  • The flight plan: How should the mission look like
  • The gory details: Simplified block diagram of the launcher and payload
  • The current state: Where are you working on just now and which kind of professional help could you need.
You could of course make a full 50 page presentation with funky powerpoint animations, but I think, in the sense of the project, less is better. ;)

We are all volunteers nobody gets paid money sorry. There is publicity for accomplishments and donations. At some point an Aerospace company will be formed and then people will get paid. We will of course start with the people that were loyal to the team.

Just so you know there is a media event on January 17th and all The X-Prize teams and N-Prize teams and their sponsors and supporters are invited and The founder if the N-Prize will be here form England to meet our team we are holding the event (Our Team) here in Austin. We also do some really cool advertising from near space. You can get more details by email

Media Fusion is working on a presentation for us. They do animations for NASA and ABC News. We are giving a full presentation very soon in public here in Austin. Nobodies getting paid we all have jobs to do along with our endeavors with the team. This is happening too fast for me to do all the things that need to be done and most of the focus is on hardware right now. I will outline our plan and answer most of your questions on the website today your absolutely right and I will fix that. Don’t miss out on the adventure of a lifetime here, Things are happening here!

I may also be able to help answer some of your guidance related questions, you'll need to provide more information here though. I don't really fancy signing up to other websites just to help answer questions.

Thank you, sure I understand. We wont build our guidance system with a few quick answers we need people dedicated that want to be a part of a Team going into orbit and then to the moon. I'm not selling tickets Guy's and it's definitely an "E" ride.

The N-Prize is a £9,999.99 (sterling) cash prize which can be claimed by any individual, or group, who are able to prove that they have put into orbit a small satellite. The satellite must weigh between 9.99 and 19.99 grams, and must orbit the Earth at least 9 times. This project must be done within a budget of £999.99 (sterling). For more details about the 'N-Prize' you can visit our website at

Are thay seriouse or it is a joke?

well it is possible but very unlikely that any one will win

How thay think to locate satelite The satellite must weigh between 9.99 and 19.99 gram that weight and prove a 9 time earth orbit?
Maybe installing a 20 kg transponder...

Well we solved that problem and they almost changed the rules so we couldn’t win but they didn’t! We plan to determine our re-entry and we should be able to predict re-entry so we will see it re-enter. It will burn Green because it is titainum/barum and it will streak across nearly the entire sky because of its decaying orbit! Nothing but a solid material could survive the G's from being fired at 7km/sec. anyway!

Oh we have a viable plan!

Lots of things apart from a solid material could survive the G loading from reentry. For a nanosat the G load won't be that high.

Also, I didn't realise this N prize was for LEO, I thought it was the lunar xprize thing. Should make life a bit easier for you guys!

Yes but you're not even explaining what part of the guidance system you need help with. Do you need help with writing the trajectory propagation methods, with the optimisation methods, with the control code? What?
It's unlikely anyone will help you unless you provide some details!

From the sounds of it, he's intending to fire the satellite out of some kind of mahoosive gun. The satellite being essentially a bullet. I'm assuming those are the G forces he's talking about, not reentry.
