Question My Voyager 'Return' scenario

I made a scenario based off this video.


Here is the storyline basically.

'On June 7th 2010 we lost all contact with Voyager 2, and it was assumed that it had ran out of power.

On December 19th 2014 astronomers began tracking an object small yet closing in on Earth. It was named 'Z9023', and it was shown that it reflected light off its surface. It was assumed then it was likely space junk left over from a Russian mission or an American interplanetary or Geostationary mission. However though, the way light reflected off the paint was extremely identical with both Voyagers. Voyager 1 was still being tracked, far out beyond the planets. To the news that shocked everyone across the world, both in the public and in the science community, Voyager 2 had been captured into a very eccentric orbit around the Earth.

It had a very unstable orbit, and continued to decrease rapidly to a point where it could be reachable by a Space Shuttle, and had an inclination of 30 degrees. NASA decided on a public relations mission, and to also discover what conditions Voyager 2 was in. Space Shuttle Endeavour was scheduled to launch May 1st 2015, but a GUCP failure caused Endeavour to be scrubbed for 5 days. Endeavour launched on its second attempt, and her last flight on May 6th 2015.

There is no grappling fixture on Voyager, so a specially designed FSS was brought up on Endeavour for its 6 day mission. The crew of Endeavour will find something unexpected about Voyager's current state.. (refer to video)'

I think there might have been a little overkill on the number of stars lol, but GREAT production and intesting concept.

One question, here you said that v'ger (hehe) 2 came back, in the video, you said that 1 went into deep space, and that 1 came back. Was it a typo there, or here? Just a little confused. :)

One question, here you said that v'ger (hehe) 2 came back, in the video, you said that 1 went into deep space, and that 1 came back. Was it a typo there, or here? Just a little confused. :)

Its actually an error of the video, Voyager 2 was the one that crossed Neptune. If its alright with everyone, here's the scenario! If there is any bugs your free to correct them! :)

now i really have an excuse to install voyager and make the grand tour ;)

I just noticed this thread. Unfortunately, the YouTube video appears to have been removed by its author (crap!).

This is a wonderfully imaginative use of combined add-ons. You should not hesitate to post it to Orbithanger under your own name. It's just a scenario, after all, and does nothing to alter the add-on ships it calls up. The only effect it would have on the various add-ons is to increase demand for them, bumping up their download numbers, and making their authors RICH! :p

Just send me an annual royalty check. 3% of your gross sales will cover my share.

If you could also do a scenario for Orbiter's stock Atlantis then you would have all your bases covered and increase your own download count. You too could be a rich and powerful Orbiter mogul!!

Thanks for the updated link. This is a trailer for a video game? Or is it some on-line video/movie? (I'm almost 53, so perhaps I am a little slow on the hi-tech uptake... I can remember when hi-fi was hi-tech.)

The ominous music suggests that Voyager's return will pose some sort of global threat, which would fit the current pop culture perception of what an alien encounter would be like. A little ironic, considering that Voyager's "Golden Record" sprang from the mind of Carl Sagan who was the serious, scentific voice of the Close Encounters and ET era. The popular perception at that time, fostered by Sagan and Spielberg, was that an encounter with an alien race would be friendly, charitable and (for us humans, at least) uplifting. Sagan's view was that regular interstellar communication -- let alone interstellar travel -- would require vastly powerful technologies, supported by planet-wide economies. Any agressive, war-like race would likely cripple or destroy itself during the course of developing those technolgies. But this kind of thinking dosen't get pop culture traction in the current era of color coded threat levels, and other forms of government and entertainment industry sponsored paranoia.

OK, maybe I am reading way too much into a video game music score. I do like the name of the production company, The Faking Hoaxer. It's either a really stupid redundancy, or a clever double negative.

If you want to go a little deeper into addon development I would be happy to provide a Voyager mesh with the Golden Record missing -- or better, a texture showing only the mounting spindle and a circular impression in the insulating blanket where the record was removed (by menacing, oozing, disgusting alien tenticles of course). The mesh could install to your addon's own folder, so as not to overwrite my Voyager addon.
