Hi, Keatah!

The video you got there reminds me of my space travels alright! Thanks for sharing that! It is very interesting! I'm now over 3,400,000,000,000 kilometers away from the sun, so far my orbiter works great!!

Cheers,
Vincent

What are you flying Vinny?

Because I have to say, when you first started doing this, I thought, "What IS he doing? There's nothing out there."
But now I'm thinking it would be interesting to have, say, an Arrow Freighter or Deepstar or Longshot, along with a docked DGIV or XR2. And once you got way out there, like you are now, every so often go realtime, undock and redock just to see how it goes.;)

Hi, Aeader!

I'm flying the Deltaglider IV with unlimited fuel and of course using real time (no time acceleration)!

Vincent

Hi, guys!

I'm now 3,955,333,000,000 kilometers or 26,440 AU away from the sun and moving at the speed of 494,653 kilometers per second!! Sometime tomorrow, I should be 4,000,000,000,000 kilometers or almost 1/2 light year away from the sun!

Cheers,
Vincent

Well let's see one! .. or two!

What are the goals of this flight? And how do you plan on retuning?

Pretty sure that Orbiter will crash after 9,999,999,999,999 kilometers, or rather, 9,999,999,999,999,999 meters, which is the unit the sim uses. At this point it will make 17 digits, which exceeds the limitations of a long double variable.

Hi, JonnyBGoode!

I can fly at any direction, it just that everything is so far away, the numbers on the instrument displays won't change that much except when moving straight up or down of the celestial body on the surface MFD.

Cheers,
Vincent

Hi, N_Molson!

I did the experiment last week using the time acceleration, I've gone as far as over 10,000,000,000,000 kilometers or over 10,000,000,000,000,000 meters and still no problems whatsoever! Thanks!

Cheers,
Vincent

Hi, guys!

I just did the experiment, but this I have gone as far as 125,002 AU or about 2 light years or 18,700,140,000,000 kilometers or about 11,000,000,000,000 miles away from the sun and I didn't have any problems like CTD or anything that!

Cheers,
Vincent

Hi, guys!

Did you checked the post about I did the experiment what I did yesterday when I got the space craft to about 2 light years away from the sun? Thanks!

Cheers,
Vincent

If I may ask... What is the purpose of your space travel? Just to see how far you can go?

The realism is a miss, due to your unlimited fuel, but I was just wondering.

Maybe the default Orbiter package could contain one additional star, like Proxima Centauri, with a few planets. In addition, the community can continue the Orbiter Galaxy effort. With some additional coding, it should not be a problem to re-create a small portion of the nearby galaxy. Then, it would be a blast to see the community create additional ships specifically for interstellar flights (which would require 'generational' ships).
