As far as I know, the distance is unlimited as long as you turn off HUD displays and any MFDs which show your altitude/position, as these crash at large enough numbers.

If you haven't tried Jedidia's Orbiter Galaxy ([ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5530"]Orbiter Galaxy 0.6.3 PATCH[/ame]), I would suggest giving that a shot. It's a little unstable, but it does allow you to travel to other star systems (Alpha Centauri, etc.) with the method you're using.

EDIT, nevermind, I see you've already tried Orbiter Galaxy.

Hi, Coumbia42!

No, I'm not using the orbiter galaxy. I think the orbiter galaxy is too old to work with the Deltaglider IV-3! I read in this forum somewhere that somebody has gone far as I think 1.8e308 meters or 1.8e305 kilometers away from the sun in orbiter.

Cheers,
Vincent

I think 1.8e308 meters or 1.8e305 kilometers away from the sun in orbiter.

It's 1.7976931348623157e+308 meters = 0x7FEFFFFFFFFFFFFF (IEEE 754 64-bit). A value of 0x7FF0000000000000 is already +infinity, and anything more than infinity is NaN (the most significant bit is for sign so it only changes the value to negative). The fraction value is in 52 bits, and exponent shifts the value by 1023 bits, so don't count on precision at that distance.

How would you explain your superluminal velocity?

Congratulations for your trip

Sent from my Deltaglider using Potatolk.

Hi, CP3O!

What is the name of the movie your video is from? I'm wondering what kind of equipment did that starship uses to go to warp speed in just a few seconds? Thanks! I've gone up to warp speed which now I'm moving at 312,082 kilometers per second which is little faster than the speed of light, but it took me about 106 days or about 10,034,000 seconds to go that fast using regular rocket engines!!

Cheers,
Vincent

Oddly enough, it's from SpaceBalls.

As for the equipment that the starship uses, it's called 'the plot'.

Hi, garyw!

Is that right? I thought the starship from Spaceballs uses the warp drive.

Does orbiter still render the sun over there?

Hi, static kid!

Yes, I'm sure the sun still renders that far out, but the sun is so far away I can't hardly see the sun from 12,931 AU away.

Vincent

Would the rendering jitter during an EVA at that distance? I seem to recall some issues with people doing an EVA out as far as Pluto, and mentioning that their MMU guys bounced around or something.

Hi, Kyle!

I got 47,344.077 AU to go before I get to 1 light year or about 9,000,000,000,000 kilometers or about 6,000,000,000,000 miles. My goal is I want to go 200,000 AU or about 30,000,000,000,000 kilometers or about 18,000,000,000,000 miles by the new year 2015!

Hi, guys!

I'm now 2,605,800,000,000 kilometers or 17,419 AU away from the sun and moving at the speed of 401,692 kilometers per second which the spacecraft would get to the moon in 1 second at that speed!

Cheers,
Vincent
