Project Multistage2015 - Development Thread

I've been waiting for the full release

Only the growing particle effect is still to be implemented, for the rest the module is finished, so you can go on and have fun ;)

Hey fred18,are you still planning to eventually get all the FOI rockets effects to be timed correctly with multistage2015?Thanks

pad effects for FOI launchers are managed by a closed code application, made by another FOI member that has unfortunately vanished since a long time. It's not related to ms2015 and I cannot do anything about it.

Only suggestion that I have is to take out the module (I think is called padjacont or something like this) from the scenario and run it without launch effects.

Developing and updating of FOI rockets are traditionally my responsibility on FOI, except for the pads. After MS2015 official release, my plan is to update all the rockets of our inventory with the new standard.
Subsequently, I would like to rework entirely the launch pads. We will see...

Thanks Andrew,and,Fred18 for keeping
The addons for FOI alive, since Fausto left.

Along those lines, fred18- are you going to fix the bugs in the dll Jarvis, or do you think multistage2015 has closed the gap enough to just go with that?

I don't have a plan to update the jarvis dll, and since the ms version will be updated by Foi members who actually designed the jarvis I think it is fair and correct that the multistage version update shall become the official one, leaving the dll version as it is now.

In future releases of ms2015 i can add some more features that are currently present in the jarvis.dll but that are not my priority now, like the dialog window for the countdown.

Let's say anyway that without the experience made with the jarvis dll today i would not have been able to develop ms2015.

Curiously the process followed a bit of a circular logic: "hey I like the jarvis, i want to put an autopilot in it, hey i like the autopilot of the jarvis, i want to put it in multistage" :-)

Ps: and relevant to the gap, at the moment I think it is in the opposite way. Ms2015 autopilot, MFD and in general its system are far more advanced, stable and reliable than jarvis dll. Some effects may still be missing: launch particles, automatic launchpads etc, but this can be added in future release of ms2015 as said above.

Looks like I can't load the HST on Buran. The Sat_OFS lines don't work for Buran.

Edit: Figured out the issue. Sorry again for being off topic.

It is not related to multistage, isn't it? Just to be sure that's not a bug from the module

If I may suggest a future feature:

A dialog window that is persistent and independent of the active vessel, with a "multistage engage" button. That button would be the equivalent of the "p" autopilot key press (and of course engage our multistage rocket).

This would be usefully for setups like the Buran above, where you don't what to switch vessels (total immersion).

This could be achieved also making the mfd "stickable" to another vessel different than the focus one. The way i built the code and the vessel check could help a lot, I'll give it a try, but i cannot guarantee success

It's quite incredible what you've achieved with Multistage 2015, I haven't really explored all of the features yet but I particularly love the live payload option, ullage motors and of course the excellent autopilot. Also, the newest update fixed the problem with vsync, it is now extremely smooth and I feel like it's even more precise than before. The only downside is that dll based launchers can't benefit from it, like thorton's excellent Proton or virii2k's Delta 4.

Thank you very much for your kind words!!! I'm very happy that users enjoy this!! :tiphat:

I tested the MFD solution and it works! I just need a very small code to add, and it will be possible to drive and monitor ms2015 launchers from remote vessels, which can be the attached payloads or also a mission control center!
:sweet:

ok here's the update.

I didn't want to add more functionalities but this came with a very low cost (easy to code) and I think it is very cool:

now, if you are on a vessel which is not a ms2015 you can open the ms2015 mfd, click on the SEL button, type in the name of a ms2015 currently in the scenario and follow it, command it etc from remote.

To clear the mfd go to Flight Settings screen (FST) and you will find a new RST button (only if you are on a non ms2015 vehicle) that will reset the mfd so you can point it to another vessel, or whatever you like.

The fact that you are pointing to another vehicle other than the focus one is highlighted by a green mfd title with the reference vessel name.

This can be very useful for launching live payloads and enjoy the flight from within the payload (total immersion as 4throck suggested) or to simulate a sort of mission control center if you want, watching and commanding the vessel from the ground or from somewhere in remote.

OK the newest version seems to work very well, but the only thing that I don't like is if you go to the payload, and select the launch vehicle with the MS2015 mfd, when you change views from the cockpit to the glass cockpit you always have to add back in the name of the launch vehicle, and this gets kind of tedious after awhile, other than that great job.Ok some problems with my flights they seem to be lower in orbit after MECO,and the rinc is not as low either.

ok, please detail the issue: lower of apogee, perigee? by how much? what are the targets and what is achieved? with which vessel? also can you explain more the Rinc?
sorry but otherwise I cannot get what is going on

Lower apogee,by 20 km,or so, moon is the target ,apogee is 160, perigee is -420. rinc 110

in the past version I got appogee 190 perigee -320 rinc 0.13

can you please provide the guidance file?

buddy it's impossible to guess, help me to help you, the more you tell me, the more I will be able to know IF it is a bug or if there is something else. also which vehicle are you flying?

You know it's probably my fault,ah never mind Fred18 it was the vehicle I was flying it doesn't seem to happen now with other vehicles I have tested, sorry for the false alarm.

Wonderful news
