Im in Seattle right know watching on my laptop.
Never been so happy to be so wrong about this skycrane thing ( I had my doubts).
Great acomplishment; very happy !!!!

I must say that good luck peanuts are for something !
Great work NASA, JPL and other, to make this Monday starting beautifully !

In any case, machines have better capaiblities than a man in a space suit. Time is too limited for people on EVA. Whereas a machine is on 24/7 eva..!

Forget the landing, hearing a NASA tech yell "HOLY ****" made staying up to watch this 100% worth it.

Well, they made mission control sit down, and now we got the talking heads (and not the band) telling us what it alllll means.

Nice to hang out with you guys watching this. Good night!

Is it just me or does it seam like NASA took a page from SpaceX on the coverage from this?

what was the touchdown velocity? I missed it..

Where did they put the descent stage down?

Congrats to Nasa TV and Eyes! A great experience overall. Better than any summer blockbuster movie.

Being the age of 1 year at the time of the Apollo 17 landing and obviously not remembering it, I can safely say that I have never been more excited about a landing on another planet than this. Great coverage of the event, thanks to the live stream and EYES.
Looking at the first hazcam images, Curiosity couldn't have "select" a better spot, really smooth and only small rocks around.

Congratulations to the JPL and MSL team.

Looking forward to the years ahead. :tiphat:

And humans do way more on a single hour of EVA than all unmanned probes together in years.

Curiosity will travel 200 meters per day and that is one epic number for a unmanned rover. On Apollo 17, the astronauts traveled 21 miles or 34 kilometers in three days of EVA.

what was the touchdown velocity? I missed it..
Vertical touchdown velocity was -0.6739 m/s while the horizontal velocity was 0.044365 m/s.

Ahh yes, thanks! Seems skycrane performed better than expected? Yes!

This means good things for Planetary Exploration funding!
