Here is a fun scenario that i completed today. A simple Earth-Moon trip, with 18 DGs.
Each of them at 10 degrees higher inclanation than the previous one, make the same (3139 m/s) TLI burn a few seconds apart from each other and arrive on a base i created on the moon, minutes apart from each other.
Here are a few screenshots:

I'm attaching the playback here. Just unzip and run the "LunarInvasion" scenario, in the "Playback" folder. Activate Artlav's [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4864"]videnie[/ame] addon, zoom out and enjoy.
If you want to use the base that i used for this playback, it's the Luna1 file, also attached to this post. Unzip in your orbiter directory and it will add a new base with 18 Lpads on the moon.

Have fun, happy orbiting

Firstly...HOLY CRAP!

Biggest spirograph image in history, perhaps? In any case, that looks incredibly awesome.

edit: I can see setting up all 18 and doing the burns if done a bit apart. The landings would be a handful to say the least...
way cool DG!!! a competely new level of orbiteering!!!
I have a close friend who juggles... http://www.passingzone.com/ ... no doubt he'll be impressed with your feat.

Thanks flytandem! Glad you liked the playback.
As for the landings, i kinda cheated there.

I tried to do them manually but there was no way i could juggle the landings with the LOI burns happening at the same time.

Ya.
I just spent about 15 minutes trying to explain to my wife about having perhaps a 15 minute spacing of landings with 18 ships where 11 minutes or so is the hands on for each landing with probably 6 ships already in a lunar orbit and having to switch for a few seconds to the precise timing of an arriving DG needing an insertion and 1 or more of the already in orbit needing a nudge to get a descent started. I didn't actually watch the playbacks as I haven't downloaded that visualization mfd you linked to. But I can visualize very well in my mind what you have done.

One of the more fun, although not timing critical, challenges in this trip I would imagine is to do the MCCs when half way to the moon so that the ships not only have a low Pe at the moon, but also to arrive on first pass over the base, AND to arrive as close as possible in timing (date) so that they are perfectly spaced 15 minutes apart. (I figured that this spacing would be about right to make it even possible to manually do the landings.) Plus that makes it so you could have them exactly .01 days apart so one could mentally calculate the arrival date. Actually that would be more like 14.4 minutes I think off hand if I remember how many minutes in a day there are. Anyway, that's what I imagined one would do when you posted about the flight.

Hey... 10/10 for creativity DGat!

Years back I set up a flight that leaves the moon and does a free return of the Earth going retrograde around the Earth (opposite its rotation) to arrival something like 7 days later at the moon to then do a free return (apollo style) back to Earth and again return to moon then Earth, moon, Earth, moon etc etc. It was fun to set up and fly. I wonder how this visualization tool you have would show a flight like this. I had called the trajectory a lunar rosette because it came out looking a bit like a spirograph.:)

Make a video ... ? :)

This playback is one of the best missions, i 've ever flown in Orbiter and Artlav's videnie addon makes it one of the most visually beautiful.

I'm in the process of trying to find the music that would fit it best, but unfortunately, i still can't get out of my mind, Ennio Morricone's music, from Tex's last video.

I'm kind of leaning towards Henry Mancini's Pink Panther theme, but it's too short.

Now, in case you are asking me if YOU can make a video, then by all means!
The playback is for everyone to watch and do whatever they want with it!

:hmm: Now that i think of it, it would make a nice video contest, to see different vids from the same playback.

---------------EDIT--------------
@flytandem
I can see how the 15 min interval between arrivals at the Perilune could work. Ofcourse after the fourth LOI you'd have to change between 1 or 2 landings and another LOI burn comming up but since the LOI burns are much shorter than the landings, it could work. Especially if i use the Retro thrusters and the Hold Altitude AP when the ships are low enough.
Thanks!

Now as for the Earth-moon-Earth-moon-Earth... , orbit WOW!
With a single burn you followed a figure 8 path between the two bodies?
It probably wouldn't look as an 8 on Vinedie, but THAT's something worth trying!
