Hi all, and welcome to the NEW official development thread for the ISSU (ISS Ultra) project:)

--LONG-TERM AIMS--

1. To create a full set of realistic exteriors for the ISS, with detailed models & textures based on real images & actual data/info.

2. To create a full set of interiors for every module of the ISS, again, very detailed & based on actual images

3. To create a full, working set of interactive systems that allow the ISS to actually function, & that allow the user to interact with it. Some systems we are currently looking to include are:
-Keyboard controlled movement to move around the interior with.
-Power generation/loss + sun tracking solar arrays.
-Ability to transfer fuel from docked resupply craft like Progress.
-Ability to get info/data on ISS systems + perform basic tasks like downlink data to ground.
-Ability to control things like SSRMS from the interior of the ISS
-Ability to be able to actually move/stow things on external platforms on ISS exterior while on EVA.

All the systems will be based around laptops, so you could look on a laptop screen in the ISS interior to see your current position on orbit, etc.

Also, ability to open hatches & move into new modules (including Shuttle, Soyuz & Progress) is an aim. I am hoping SSU & ISSU can work closely together so some systems from ISSU (like keyboard controlled movement) could be implemented into the Shuttle also, so you could dock the shuttle, open hatches & move into the ISS, etc.

A new Soyuz + Progress will be made specifically for ISSU, with ability to open hatches, transfer fuel & move inside interior.

A full set of scenarios for every ISS mission will be included + various other realism enhancements such as a soundpack for the ISS interior air-con sounds, etc.

--CURRENT STATUS--

The current status of ISSU is "go for launch";) Mustard has very kindly agreed to modal the entire ISS truss structure for ISSU.

Mustard has also kindly given his permission for ISSU to distribute some more of his work.

However, these are NOT finished. They still need texturing + adapting to work with other parts of ISSU. Mustard has only given them to ISSU in their current state, he is NOT working on them himself due to a lack of time.

Donamy has also given ISSU permission to use all his stuff from his ISS Experience package + says ISSU can use his interior models of the ISS.

So, that leaves all of the ISS already modelled:), but NOT finished. Modules still need correcting/adapting + texturing. I myself am working on textures for the whole of the ISS, so what is currently required is a MODELLER.

So this is an appeal for help: Any modellers out there willing to adapt the current modules + texture them using my textures, please PM me or any other of the ISSU team. The models need to be very detailed, like to real ISS. So please, EXPERIENCED modellers are really what is needed, who also have enough time to do the work. I have a very laid-back approach to working, & I don't really set dates/deadlines etc. I just like to make a plan & then let everyone work through it at their own pace. But please don't underestimate the workload: There is still MUCH to do.

--CURRENT TEAM--

This is the current team I am aware of:

. Me - MANAGER/ADMINISTRATOR/SCENARIOS/RESEARCHER/TEXTURER (images only)
. The Aviator - MANAGER/ADMINISTRATOR/SCENARIOS/RESEARCHER
. Mustard - MODELLER (Truss only)
. Unussapiens - MODELLER
. DaveWave - CODER/PROGRAMMER
. Tblaxland - CMG IMPLEMENTATION

Any other additions to the team are always welcome:)

--FIRST RELEASE--

This first release of ISSU will be a full set of exteriors, interiors + basic, keyboard-controlled animations to open/close hatches, etc. + a full set of scenarios

Systems will be included in the second/third release, as they will take a long time to code.

First release *planned for 3-4 months time

*planned, not guaranteed;)

So that's pretty much it for now, all future ISSU developments will be posted here.

-ISSU team:cheers:

One quick point - why are solar panels not blue?

Because the real solar panels on the ISS are not blue;)

Unless you refer to the solar panels on the Russian segment, in which case it is because they are not textured yet

So just in case I wasn't very clear, all that is needed now is an experienced modeller willing to work on ISSU, & then we can launch:)

So any help is appreciated:cheers:

Good job so far.:speakcool:
I can't wait for its release.:(

Looking good!
Can't wait to pull in there with an XR2.
Or even the HyperDart, once thats all bug-free =D

So, when can I get to work on advertising? If only there was a way to get a beta model. *hint hint*;)

--UPDATE--

I'm nearly finished the Destiny textures now. Once I have done them, I am sending them to Mustard, who will enhance them with Photoshop to make them more realistic.

ISSU is still searching for an experienced modeller. The first task for ISSU is going to be Destiny, which is needed so Mustard can finish his S0 truss. We already have the exterior & interior for Destiny (courtesy of Donamy). I am doing all textures, so all we need is a modeller who can adapt Donamy's model to add some detailed parts + texture it with my textures. To make it ready for the first release, keyboard-operated animations to open/close hatches would be included. So It would be cool to have a modeller who could do this, but if it's not possible, I don't mind having the modeller & the animator as different people.
So anyone interested in helping with that, please PM me:)

@Unussapiens: How possible would it be for you to do the work detailed above?

@Airforce_master_101: If you want to start modelling, I suggest you download a free modelling program such as GMAX or Anim8or. But I think it's a little early for you to be taking on a task as big as ISSU with no previous experience. There are many good tutorials on OH to help you if you want to start modelling. If one day you are capable of doing any task needed, then sure you can help with that:cheers:

@Pilot7893: You can start doing some screenshots, etc. just as soon as there is something to take a screenshot of. BETA testers are always welcome also;)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

JUST TO RECAP, WE NEED MODELLERS!!

OK, would you be willing to handle hatch opening/closing animations for ISSU then?

OK, Thanks :)

So all we need now is a modeller, and we can launch!!!!

cough*SSUdevelopers*cough
Just kidding, they've already got enough on their hands.

SSU developers?

Well I think they are a little busy right now;)
Besides, Donamy has already kindly given us lots of his stuff!

ISSU will take a lot of time, so preferably someone who is free from other projects would be best:)

--Official ISSU logo--

I have just designed the official new ISSU logo.

Comments/feedback appreciated:)

Clever, maybe a silhouette of the reall one.

Clever, maybe a silhouette of the reall one.

Well, when Mustard finishes his truss, I shall probably use that for the "I".
At the moment, I think perhaps it needs more colour/effects.

-----Post Added-----

Mustard has sent me all his meshes (apart from the truss) in 3DS. format, so I will put them on ISSU's Sourceforge when it is set up so modellers can get access to them.

Destiny textures coming along nicely now, when they are done they will also be put on Sourceforge.

Still looking for a modeller:)

-----Post Added-----

OK, ISSU is now on Sourceforge:)

It will take 2-3 days for the Project to be approved, then I will upload all the current stuff, and give project membership to all team.

-----Post Added-----

We still need a modeller (Hint Hint);)

Texturers who can make accurate, realistic textures from actual ISS photos would be welcome also:)

1 Important question .....

Will this version be used as a replacemet for the stock ISS_ProjectAlpha or will it be intended as a seperate version ?
