Iron Hill Project Thread

I'm not going to send the telemetry today. I don't used the engines and the RCS engines since yesterday, so the flight data should be the same...
What do you think?

I could readjust the trajectory to reach the Moon as soon as possible, but it's going to spend some fuel. The land is going to be easier, as the spacecraft is not going to have the same weight. What do you think about it?

Negative on that, Odyssey. No need to spend the extra fuel. Just hold your present course, and send a routine update at 23:00 UTC.

Okay, don't worry about posting any files right now. Just update your clock and tell your status.

Perfect! Current Status:
Distance from Earth : 220.0M
Distance from the Moon : 262.9M

Nope. I'm going too far from the Earth so my speed is going down...
With some calculations (and with the time acceleration :P), the LOI will happen during the dusk of the Friday...

The Odyssey will cross the Lunar north pole at March 30th, 20:06 UTC
The burn will start at Mar 30th, 20:17 UTC
The Odyssey will complete the LOI at 20:18 UTC...

Huh, must be my Ipod then...I just woke up on the ceiling so...yeah...

Good morning center!
No, I used the Time Acceleration on another "session", the current state is always on real time...

Current Situation:
Alt : 285.0M
G : 0.44 (Red)
Distance from the Moon : 217.9M (Using OrbitMFD)
Now, the Moon is the closer celestial object. There's no turning back for us right now, center... :P

Well, it should be interesting, but I'm doing some EVAs to check the status of the spacecraft...
Yesterday I checked the cargo area, today I checked to docking bay, and everything is fine!

Please check out the last part of my post #313. I'd really like some feedback on that...
Pipcard and Chrothor politely declined the postions I offered them. Since we're not getting anymore traffic on the signup front, I'd like to propose a recruiting drive. We need people for the following postions:
Must-have: Pilot and Copilot for Chronus on the Mercury mission,
Nice-to-have: Public Relations Manager, pilot and commander for Odyssey on the Mercury mission.

If push comes to shove, we can fly Odyssey ourselves, but not Chronus (unless we want to reduce the base crew to 3 or drag a Vanguard clear to Mercury:P)

If each of us can contact two people about signing up, we'll get a pool of ten new people to pick from. I'm still trying to think of two other experienced orbinauts to talk to.

Well, I could be the Public Relations Manager!
As an astronaut, I could post daily (or weekly) some informations about the mission, about the planet (and about the Sun), and post some "results" of the experiments...

Thanks! That's nice of you to take on a dual role:)
The first thing I need you to do is contact Orb for permission to start a new thread titled "Iron Hill Mission Updates". Make sure you tell him that any planning and discussion will remain in the Iron Hill Project thread, but if anyone has any questions or comments for you, they can post them in the Updates thread, along with your press releases.

Second job (you won't need to do this until after you get back from the moon) will be a "Meet the Crew" post. This will involve the name and a picture of each of us, and a short description of who we are, our role in the mission, and a brief resume of our Orbiter experience.

You'll also be responsible for managing the ceremonial details. Your predecessor did a great job with this, and so did you, when designing the patches, logos, etc.

Okay, that's one!
Public Relations: Felipi1205
Odyssey Commander: open
Odyssey Pilot: open (but I'll take it if we don't have someone by May 5:))
Chronus Pilot: open
Chronus Copilot: open

Perfect! I can do the both things at the same time, so I'll contact Orb today and (maybe) open the new thread...

OK, Orb sent me an answer: I can create the new thread!!! I'm going to create it and post the first things today!
