Launch News Indian PSLV launch with IRNSS-1E, January 20, 2016

After the excitement of this year's first live coverage launch (*), we turn back to other spaceports of the world for a much more "conventional" one.

This one comes from India as ISRO comes on a sprint to complete their own "little GPS" - the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS). Using 7 satellites in geosynchronous orbit (3 above the equator and 4 in slightly inclined orbits), this will act as a add-on system to GPS and others to improve navigational accuracy in the south Asian region.

4 of the satellites have been launched so far (in July 2013, April and October 2014, and March 2015). Now, ISRO is planning to do a hat trick to complete the system with 1F going up next month and 1G in March!
