I went to the Iron Farm today, to check what block on a rail line you are talking about, and I couldn't find any missing. Which line was that? The one to go to Sky City or one of those to transport prisoners for penal work (constructing iron golems) to towers?

By the way, who locked that little guy trying to welcome me warmly in the Sky City in the pentagon?

The rail line was one of the "villager transport" lines, up near the southwest tower. It was very high up, but I don't remember where.

And yes, I saw that creeper yesterday but decided to sign off instead of kill him. Was hoping he'd despawn, lol. Do creepers not despawn?

Phase 1 of the SkyCity University is complete! I've been working to put together what Eccentrus provided me and it's coming along nicely! It's very beautiful and many kudos to Eccentrus for guiding the design. I look forward to starting phase 2, the completion of the lower walls and the start of the lower dome, soon (whenever Eccentrus posts next )!

I've completed more of the SkyCity university today. I finished the "Izack columns" and added glass to the windows. I'm struggling with the large arch across the center of each wall core, though (the complicated one with all the stone brick steps in the middle), so I may need a tutorial on how you built those, Eccentrus. :) Sadly, just attempting to deconstruct what you did in Creative mode tends to be more confusing than helpful.

Somehow managed to miss that detail in Eccentrus's post. Where on earth did that come from?

your old face Izack :P

btw sorry for missing out for whole days, my exam took such a toll that I didn't expect.

and my minecraft hours was rather being spent for this :shifty:

and btw, Arrowstar, even I'm struggling with that, trying to deconstruct what I did over there :p

Ok so I have deconstructed it and find a way to build it that is methodical and can be easily understandable

so first of all, you have to extend the sandstone pillars with these

2013-01-15_22.04.50.png

two double stone slabs and two stone brick blocks.

and then extend the upper stone brick blocks to create an overhang, such as this

2013-01-15_22.05.50.png

and then you can start making a base pillar to the top of the sandstone pillar

2013-01-15_22.05.06.png

but on the upper stone brick where you have that overhang, you would want to put the upside down stairs there as well

2013-01-15_22.05.37.png

creating something like this in the end

2013-01-15_22.12.23.png

on both end it became like this

2013-01-15_22.12.54.png

let's see the old arch, it has the same shape now

2013-01-15_22.13.02.png

as you were building that anvil-shaped thingie you will notice that you are intersecting some section of the izack columns, you would want to do this to them

2013-01-15_22.11.10.png

destroy the cornermost upside down stair from the izack column intersecting the arch and exchange it with the stone brick

2013-01-15_22.11.20.png

and now the upside down stairs should be connected to each other.

continuing on the arches, put down a stone brick atop the anvil's overhang

2013-01-15_22.14.01.png

and extend them all across like this

2013-01-15_22.16.21.png

but this time stop the upside down stairs just before the middle block gap

2013-01-15_22.16.56.png

and the going to the last layer first off you build a connecting bridge between the two structures you just made

2013-01-15_22.19.06.png

2013-01-15_22.19.12.png

and then continue to extend the blocks atop the upside downstairs and then put another layer of upside down stairs and here's what you end up with

2013-01-15_22.20.09.png

go inside under the arch and at the very top layer put an upside down stair heading outside

and it's finished

actually this is a very complicated and advanced derivative of a simple building technique I will call as the inverted pyramid, which by the name you would have guessed what it consists off.

To build an inverted pyramid, you just need to build the top end of a pillar, and then build layer and layer of upside down bricks until you met the height that satisfy you. and with this one, I break several repetitions to make it look better.

and by the way, a glimpse of Basilica Nostrum Domina Magna Scientiae Hypathia Mater Cognitionis (Basilica of our great lady of science, Hypathia mother of knowledge) A great temple of the probe dedicated to women of science, I'm planning it to be built in the eastern edge of the SkyCity

and at the back of the altar, replacing the usual sight of a cross, I put a likeness to the Holy Probe :hailprobe: even though I'm still bad at sculpting and don't know if it's like the Holy Probe at all

With the coming update, I'm picturing riding along the winding subway as a TNT minecart sneaks up on an adjacent rail. Forget creepers. :P

btw finally redid the statue, and this is the edifice that will welcome you to the Basilica, when it gets done (can be 6 months from now :P )

Alright, the arches have been completed and the core wall of the SkyCity University (level 1) is now complete! Eccentrus, I had some trouble interpreting all of your instructions exactly, but I think I got quite close. Can you demonstrate for me how to go about the starting the second level (keeping in mind that those central stone arches, while very close to what you have, may not be identical)? If you do that, I can get a jump start tomorrow and finish this weekend, I'm sure. :)

Also, going to have to start thinking about interiors here, but I already have Grand Plans (TM) for that.

Progress:

well close enough! it's still incomplete but given that you got it 99% right it's going to be eaasy for me to fix it if you allow me to :)

Of course! Feel free to modify whatever you need to in order to make it work. If you're available tonight (are your exams over?), I'll even provide the stone bricks and stairs after I get back from work.

Well, just let me know what i can work on in the meantime. I'd like to keep making progress if possible.

well you can try to build cores and models of the second floor and upwards, and I can then try to find ways to integrate them to my dome :) and btw checkout the screenshot thread as well, I'll be posting my design studies over there.

Sounds good, will do. Does your dome have any requirements I need to know about while building the walls?

Okay. I'm going to build two stories, but just show the one story of wall. Where is that dome going again?
