Humor Eurovision Song Contest 2019

San Marino to the finals.
Humanity has taken a 180° turn in evolution, if you ask me.

Indeed, that was the worst song there.
But since they don't make the voting results public it's pointless to speculate what happened.
Perhaps they flipped coins or something.

Well, its on.
Listening with one ear. Nothing memorable at the moment.

Same here... until Estonia, it was pretty harmless... but the final songs got some more life.

Nothing against showing some regional productions... but can't they next time please pick Orphaned Land?

Zero points in the public vote for Germany. And I thought I am the only one who compared our song to a lobotomy.

And some rocker attitude points go to Iceland for flashing Palestine flags. Its not like its far away from Tel Aviv.

Congratulations to Duncan Laurence and the Netherlands!

Well done to the Netherlands!

We came bottom, but that is the Brexit factor...

N.

Michael Rice at least got unlimited times more public-vote points (3!) than our contestants ;)

Zero points for Germany is odd.
I guess they scaled the voting % to the min/max of the juri's points...

Netherlands was a good win, it's a solid song with good singing. No complaints here :)

Zero points for Germany is odd.

Not odd. Well-deserved.

Remember, only the top 10 of a countries public vote are counted. I can't imagine being in the top ten of any European country with this song. Maybe top 20. But never top ten.

Odd because of the way it was announced. It seemed like you didn't get a single vote.

Well, it there is no better way to say that there had been not a single public vote for us.

But it did not come surprising, even in German TV, right where the people had been who had been responsible for the rather incompetent song selection, they joked: Should the song not get many votes in the ESC, we will simply play videos of last years celebration (Where Germany ended up 4th with a much more ESC-suitable song.)

Not that it matters much, it's the ESC ;)

Exactly. It is pretty much its own self-contained universe. Even if you win the ESC (like Lena Meyer-Landrut did nine years ago), it does not automatically mean your career beyond the ESC will be less hard work afterwards. You increase your chances and the challenges at the same time.

And another one for Germany... because of a human error, Germany lost a few jury points (The Belarussian jury got disqualified for disclosing their votes before the voting) and is now second last... Sorry, we are still in front of UK.

Don't give much credit to the voting since the actual call figures (number of calls) are not displayed during the show. I didn't, but I'm sure that at least one person voted for Germany.

Well, you'll do better next year!
Perhaps singing in German and with something a bit more advanced musically

Even worse, it was the jury vote. In case of Germany, mediocre skilled musicians and record industry managers deciding what the people should like, because they have no taste for good european music. As if any of their "stars" managed to get even halfway interesting abroad. Which German musicians do people know outside Germany? Rammstein. Scorpions (and many other metal acts). Herbert Grönemeyer. Die Toten Hosen. Alphaville had their fame once. Kraftwerk.

Nobody outside Germany gives a damn about a Nicola Rost... damn, even I didn't even know who she was, until googling it. Annett Louisan was the only person in the jury which should at least know what a good song is.

Yeah. At least with something more intensity, if we don't want to challenge foreign ears with klingon poetry. Just compare it to last year, where we had a honorable 4th place.

I like Rammstein :)
Don't worry about foreign ears, we don't mind it at all.
Not understanding the lyrics is not a problem with a good performer, it's feeling that counts.
Trololo is a good example

Yeah... just like understanding Shakira might give you some conflicts about what you really hear and what you thought you hear.

But really, German language is a word language (in contrast to a syllable language), its easy to parse but very hard to speak, because of its abundance of consonants. The lyrics of Trololo uses more vowels than a German can use in a whole year of speaking.

That can make it sound pretty alien, since you can easily understand a word, but then go crazy trying to speak it yourself. Let alone singing a German song. Just try to sing "Du hast" loud.
