Eurovision Song Contest 2024

Germany has decided too last week. But don't let us talk about it, ok? See the choice, and despair.

The only good news is, that the current broadcaster in Germany that has handled the ESC for decades, will only do it for two more years...

Latvia, at least this time, is in finals. He is quite OK, but as for many other artists - overall it's quite awful, too much of "crazy" image on a stage.

You have only three minutes to be remembered, so of course you need to be as attention catching as possible, without offending people. The ESC is pretty much musical trolling.

The Dutch participant for the ESC, Joost Klein, has been ruled out of the contest because of accusations and police investigations about threatening an employee of the venue with violence. Since he was one of the favorites of this year, really weird.

I think the time it takes from seeing Barbara Schönberger to switching the channel again, should be a measure for German ESC fandom. It took me 35 ms (estimated).

Indeed 😅

Back then it was terrible. But when I see this today I actually have to smile. And who does't remember? Easygoing times...

Soooo... Switzerland won? That hasn't happened since Celine Dion at some point in the 80s... I'm not sure it's a good omen. Europe is very evidently abandoning its most treasured traditions.
Also, most of Switzerland is currently swearing and complaining about the costs of hosting next years iteration. Everybody seems to think that placing second is the real win in the contest.

How you can tell, that a band had really fun at the ESC despite ending up last in the final? See:
