a) Because it's not finished.
b) Separate downloads are too much clutter IMHO.
c) You guys are testing them here first :)
d) Nevertheless, no point in not sharing what it's done, hence the releases through this thread

I've located a nice view of Kourou :thumbup: with no cloud cover:

Here's some work on the Japanese bases (because I needed to take a break from Kourou and Vostochny Cosmodrome (Svobodny) ):

Quite basic, but they are impossible to represent accurately without custom meshes.

Almost done with Woomera, Alcantara and Kourou.

Alcantara is using part of my custom tiles from the Brazilian Space program add-on, so it is kind of an exception regarding tile detail. But I saw no point in not using what I had.

Here are some preview shots:

So the next release will be this 3 bases along with the European ones.

Curious about the last image above, looks familiar, but I can't quite place it?

Not Mars, it looks like the Lake Hart area that has the Australia Woomera 6A launch site.
I wondered as that is not a "default" area for Orbiter.

The picture above that one looks like the area around the Woomera Airfield(Orbiter default), the layout of the buildings to the west of the runway looks right.

Woomera 6A: Lat -31.073643° Lon 136.439750°

Woomera airfield: Lat -31.145828° Lon 136.813133°

EDIT: Just measured the distance from Woomera Airfield to the 6A site, about 22 miles due West...ish.

Google Earth co-ords.

Yes, it is Woomera!
I'm covering as much area as possible, so on that case you will have both the airfield and the pads accurately located.

I didn't add any structures to the pads because, from the satellite images I saw, none exist now. Also, that type of detail is best added through dedicated add-ons. I didn't test the existing Woomera 6A add-on but I guess that it will fit with no major problems.

Thanks for that 4throck.

Bits of 6A are still there, not much unfortunately. Guess it was completely stripped after the launches ended or the Aussie climate isn't good for concrete!

Would have looked like this:

They could have moved it to Darwin...

The Spadeadam structure in the UK is still complete, although all the pipework is gone of course.

I look forward to this add-on, my 6A has simple tiles, if I can I'll update to match yours.

Well, since the only thing I put on the 6A site is a Pad, any mesh you put on that location will cover it. So it will be compatible. As for tiles, the colors might not match, as I tried to blend with the default earth textures. But alpha channel does miracles.

And here are the Europe, South America and Australia bases.

* Peenemunde
* Plesetsk
* Salto di Quirra

* Alcantara
* Kourou

* Woomera

Get them here:

Now I'll try to get Asia done ASAP, but there are lots of bases there. Some are complicated with many pads over large areas, such as Baikonour... But I'll get it done!

It should help a lot to have more than just a marker at Baikonour. Hopefully the project can eventually be expanded to the level of detail found on the stock KSC base. :)

Yes. I was thinking of at least putting the runway and the main pads. That would be useful for casual landings / launches from there.

There are already excellent Baikonour add-ons so it's pointless to duplicate those. And it is a BIG area, so don't expect many buildings besides those close the actual pad / runway areas.

I'll post some images when I get there!

Ok, will look into that. Why something as simple as sharing a file always gets complicated ? :facepalm:

(logged into my radpishare account, and found that the 3 files I had there no longer exist.
I only had the 3 files of this thread there, so no bid deal.

So latter I'll upload them to another sharing site.
Any suggestions? )

Dropbox has a bandwidth limit.

If many of us will download your bases from there (and we will) your account could be blocked or something.

OK the problem solved itself by magic!

Try it again at the rapidshare link that I posted before.

It seems that the service is under maintenance:

"Dear RapidShare users, due to maintenance reasons, RapidShare will be down on Wednesday, January 23rd, from 10 am CET for 2 hours until approx. 12 pm."

If it keeps giving trouble, I'll try the options suggested. Thanks all! :cheers:

Of course. All the default bases are on the list here:
