I'm launching from Wideawake. Both sites are near the equator so it should make no difference.

Not sure. I also launched from Kourou. Just tried it again, with the same results (see attached). Cuts off the engines with an ApA of around 463k and a PeA of around -516k.

Going to double-check my ini file against astrosammy's to see if there is a difference there that would cause this.

@astrosammy - noticed your ini has cog=18. This may be one of the differences that is changing my performance. I simply made a copy of the arF3.ini and changed the payload. All the stock Ariane 5 ini files use cog=6.

Second stage thrust was also set to 28000, whereas yours has 29000. Changed this to match also. Will give it another shot and see how it goes. Thanks for providing this file. Not a lot of multistage time beneath my belt, so learning as I go.

**EDIT**
Changed cog back to 6. Using 18 caused the stack to float 12 meters above the launchpad. Switched to your ini and saw the same.

Doesn´t work for me in a Delta IV latest version. When i jettison DSCS from the last stage rocket, Orbiter crashes. I have tried to configure the payload in the Payload Menu, before launching, not in the scenario file

You're using this Delta IV addon, correct?

It works fine for me, doing as you described. Can you post your Orbiter.log?

alright evrybody lets get back to the origional argument about the ddl files.:eek:fftopic:
i agree with everybody that the probe should become a dll spacecraft since limmited to one kind of stinks. i just tried to launch them on a velcro delta ii 7000 HEAVEY. while your at modifying the comm sat can you add others to it

Were we arguing? I'm sorry. :(

I only make Orbiter addons in my free time, so please don't expect me to be working on it all the time. I will make a module for DSCS, when I can. There was never an argument there... :rolleyes:

If you want to make more than one SC3 vessel, you can copy the DSCS.ini file and rename it, for example DSCS2.ini, DSCS3.ini, etc.

I'm also thinking of making variants on the satellite bus in order to make it more versatile. Maybe some time.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. :)

Multistage, I'm debugging now to see if I maybe made an error somewhere. But I can't tell.

Crash at fairing sep happened to me (lots) when I first started my multistage project. Although there might be more than 1 culprit.

Make sure the .ini file looks like (similar) this...

Code:
[PAYLOAD_1]
off=(0,0,17)
MeshName="DSCS"
Module="Spacecraft/spacecraft3"
Name="DSCS"
Diameter=6
Height=15
Mass=2300
Render=1

Keep in mind your offset will vary depending on what rocket you are using (this is for Energia-m), and the Render=1, I was using to troubleshoot. You can get rid of that line altogether if you want.

Thanks Phantom, it works beautifully, I'm just toying with it to get it to position correctly.

How do you get the values for Diameter, Height, and mass?

EDIT: It's perfect, I can now send it to the Moon to start my mock-Mars scenarios.

I think it's in the config file for the DSCS. If not it's from the stock Carina. If not that then I made it up?

Answering the question, made some months ago, The Delta IV version i´m using is the 3.0, the latest one. And I can´t yet separate DSCS from upper stage without crash orbiter!! What can I do?

Make sure you type in the correct filename in the Delta IV configuration, and you have Spacecraft3 installed correctly (it's not included). If that doesn't work, please post your orbiter.log.

These setting should work if everything is installed correctly.
If not , try on a clean installation of orbiter.

Good news everyone!
farnsworth_happy.gif

The next release will include a normal map for use with OVP clients:
1eHnM.jpg

Impatient people who know what they're doing can download DSCS_norm.dds from the attachment below.

An undetermined future release will have a proper DLL...much needed, yes.
I am also considering creating a slightly larger version with more fuel to fix its anemic Delta-V. However, I won't do this unless there is demand for it, and I'm not sure of how much more fuel the larger version should have.

Does anyone have any numbers to throw out there? :)
