D3D9Client RC38

Here is RC38

- Problem with CreateSymbolicLinkA is fixed.
- Phobos mesh bug fixed.
- Object Shadows option in Visual effects tab implemented.
- Reentry texture no-longer visible form cockpit view.
- Sunset/Sunrise red channel reduced by 20%

Yes, I suppose so. I will rework the lighting model when I implement the atmospheric scattering, but until then, here is a quick hack to boost the sunlight.

There is an experimental parameter LIGHT_BOOST added in D3D9Client.fx that will boost the diffuse light and the parameter AMB_ATTEN that will attennuate ambient light. The default values should work pretty well.

Unpack the zip in the Modules folder and then go into the advanced setup panel (from Video Tab) and select "Debug" Shader set. The "Default" shader set remains unchanged. The Debug shaders are located in /Modules/D3D9ClientDebug/

Currently the sunset color can't be adjusted from the shader except for the planet surface.

Reporting back:

Using RC38 with checked "GDI compatibility" all aforementioned MFDs seem to be working. This applies to Orbiter 2010P1 as well as to Beta 111105.

ENERGY project CTD

Hi everybody,

I'm using the 111105 beta with the appropriate beta version of the D3D9 client and a clean-ish orbiter installation (only Orbitersound and Energy project installed).

I get a CTD when trying to load any of the Energy scenarios with the default DG's (I do not have the required addons for the other scenarios). Below is the orbiter.log and d3d9 client log respectively:

I'm using an M11x R2 fully updated and (I think) running orbiter with the GT335M card.
 
If anyone can see what the problem is from the above I would be grateful for any help.
 
I saw that people have had the same error codes and were advised to instal shader 2.0 files, but then read that this had been fixed so I'm not sure where to go.
 
A normal scenario with the default DG works fine but anything with energy gives a CTD before the simulation starts (it seems).

(I just tried starting a scenario then creating an energy vessel...the tower created without a problem but when I attempted to create the rocket itself, it briefly came on the screen, then CTD

I can reproduce the CTD and I'll take a closer look in it.

Using RC38 with checked "GDI compatibility" all aforementioned MFDs seem to be working. This applies to Orbiter 2010P1 as well as to Beta 111105.

They should work fine without the "GDI compatibility" mode as well. Is there a problem running them without the compatibility mode ?

I've just checked it and can confirm that they do work fine without the 'GDI compatibility" as well.

(Although I've no idea why I hadn't noticed it the first time :)

But I noticed that buildings at KSC no longer cast shadows. They did in RC36, even the VAB. But that has now gone away. Vessels all seem to cast shadows as far as I can tell, but scenery buildings do not. Not on the ground anyway.

You probably just need to enable Object Shadows from the Visual effects tab.

It seems that I can reproduce the problem under Orbiter 2010-P1. I couldn't find anything wrong from the source codes and suddenly after a few rebuilds the problem was gone. I tried to trace back to see what did I change and there were no changes. Maybe it was just a bad build.

Thanks, about reporting the problem. I just don't have enough time to make all possible tests after every build with both P1 and Beta.

They work here with the module posted today. Are you sure you replaced the existing D3D9Client.dll module in Modules\Plugin with the one in the package above?

Same issue here; I un-installed (reverted back to RC38), checked a known scenario, then re-installed (RC38b) and all objects (buildings, runway distance markers) now appear to be several feet in the air above the ground (with shadows).

I am not exactly sure what you mean by reflection maps. I presume you mean that there is a spherical environment map around the vessel and the color of the reflected light would be taken from the environment map.

I suppose the specular map could be implemented in the same way as normal maps. But what need to be in the specular map ? Does it need to control the color of the specular reflection or simply the specular power. If it's just the power then it could be also packed in unused channel of a normal map.
