GreaNice eye candy with the animation for the central building! I do wonder the reason for it...not a knock, just wondering.

Thanks for the comments!

Well initially I merely wanted some kind of mobile-sculpture-like element to add to the building, but I realized perhaps there's a practical purpose to the rotation of those "discs". It could be to regulate temperature--there could be water/fluid pipes in those things, and since sometimes they are exposed to the sun, and sometimes they are in the shade, perhaps this aids in regulating temp, similar to the rotisserie roll that the CSM+LM stack does on translunar/transearth coast. Or they could also regulate the temperature in those viewing areas/windows. I've been thinking that if there is a window facing the sun on the moon, and this window peers out of a pressurized environment bubble, wouldn't there be temp issues such as greenhouse effect inside the pressurized area? This is the nice thing about working with these, they make you think logically about how to set about building such structures even though you don't have a solid or hard core engineering background.

If you want one, you might have to wait--I have to ask permission from Steve Tyler if it's possible to release (or package with Brighton) a tweaked version of his meshes/textures.

Great job on the color, but if it's annika hansen your going for, she still needs some wire frame work.

Hmm... Maybe you should add a connection from every pad to the main building. That would be nice.

Is the base upgrade available for download somewhere? I couldn't find it in the OH and the earlier external link doesn't work either....

I have it on my dropbox. I have posted the link somewhere maybe in this thread.
Try searching my posts in the threads about this base.

Ok I realised this is place where I need to post updates, otherwise people might think I actually already released an update to BB lol.

Ok I have an issue at the moment, and it concerns running Vinka's Spacecraft3.dll with D3D11Client--I crash everytime a spacecraft3 object is declared in the scenario file. Here is my crash log:

So unless I solve this, I can't have any animations etc for BB2013 :( Or perhaps I need to downgrade to OrbiterBeta+D3D9? I hope anyone can shed light on this--I have lots of plans for hardware-rendered lighting for the base, and this needs the OVP.

In the launcher, go to: Video > Advanced > then press the Create Symbolic Link button.
That did it for me.

I shall try that! Thanks!

Hmmm, I don't seem to see any "Advanced" button on the "Video" panel.

I haven't used D3D11Client, but according to the D3D11Client development thread "Create Symbolic Links" is implemented in "terrain" branch only, and from a screenshot I saw, there's no "Advanced" button, but "D3D11Client Configuration" button instead.

Sorry, my bad.
I misread D3D11Client for D3D9Client.
Still haven't got the D3D11Client working yet.

For a little guide about symlinks, check out my addons on OH.

Never mind, there you go...might have missed the detail about terrain branch orb just said.

Maybe I'm using an older build of D3D11Client because I still don't see the "Create Symbolic Links" option on my tabs.

built Jun 3 2012
Sep 16, 2012:
Code:
Added "Create Symbolic Links" functionality

You can either install D3D9Client along with D3D11Client and temporarily switch to it to create the links if you don't want newer version of D3D11Client, or get this: http://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/hardlinkshellext.html, and create the required symbolic links or directory junctions by hand.

Ok so based on several tests, Standard (not Beta) Orbiter 2010 install, plus the D3D9ClientR10 is pretty stable, both for XR2 and my current Brighton Base 2011 (with parts animated by Spacecraft3.dll). So, I will release two versions of Bright Base 2013--one specifically for the above combination of install, and I will also release a NON-ANIMATED (you don't need dpacecraft3.dll) version, specifically designed for an OrbiterBeta plus D3D11Client install. Then if I can squeeze yet more time, I'll release low/optimised poly version for each.

The main thing about the update would be that, apart from option downloads like spacecraft3, XR-addons, OrbiterSound and UCGO, people won't be required to download anything else--it will be a purely self-contained download this time. And the addon will (hopefully) have a permanent download link from now on.
