Request Ares I-X addon?

This looks awesome so far!

Any idea on a release date yet?

I'm having to re-install and start all my add-ons over again me thinks, I managed to somehow make it all crash and burn whenever I try and jettison the shuttles SRBs or any rockets top stage. My bad.

assuming you want the more advance Ares-I X addon it's already released, you can find it here [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4290"]Ares I-X Ultra 1.00[/ame]

You need the latest Space Shuttle Ultra version found here: [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4014"]Space Shuttle Ultra v1.25[/ame]

I'm running the scenario without the pads. The problem is the rocket is invisible and when I hit F1, it just gives a generic cockpit view with no fuel or anything.

Do you have the VC2008 run time files installed on your PC? AFAIR the Ares I-X had been compiled with static linking, so these files should not be required, but before we go back to the question, if you installed it properly, this one should be addressed. AFAIR, the XR vehicles have the same problem.

But did the Project Apollo scenarios work?

I just checked the compiler settings, it did use static linking of the run-time (producing slightly bigger DLLs), so it should be working without the run time files. Do you have AresIX.dll in your modules folder?

It didn't fix the problem. Try downloading and installing it yourself. Maybe some crucial files were left out in the uploading.

I did that test already before uploading it, also maybe it didn't occur to you, but there is at least one person who managed to install and use it. A missing file in the installation would mean nobody can use it.

Also, what does orbiter.log say?

It worked fine for me. BTW Urwumpe, the sparks (for lack of a better word) looked cool after separation, my daughter questioned it, but she didn't know that the SRB worked like that (and she hates it when I'm right).

Hi Urwumpe,

Your Ares 1-X seems to ignore the TARGET_HEADING setting in the scenario at my end. The default scenario launches to 2 degrees instead of 90.
Other than that and the sound of the booster missing, it works fine. :)

Well, I had seen already new videos for improving the looks of the SRBs after separation, I look into improving it.

The slag particles are a part of the SSU code I took as start, the density and size distribution of the slag particles is actually based on the camera view from one SRB to the other after a Shuttle staging... If somebody would be able to do the audio work, I would actually also like to include the sound of the slag particles raining on the SRB case.

The particles are mostly molten aluminum and binder, which gather in calmer regions inside the SRBs and drop free when the chamber pressure drops and the exhaust flow inside the SRBs changes.

Yes, had also this problem from time to time, is caused by a small math error in the navigation part of the guidance, I thought it was fixed...will look at it again.
