Making up a tank support frame from four elements:

I want to join the face at the end of the horizontal beams to its neghbour. I could eyeball it, then weld the vertices, but that seems to be a bit inaccurate.
Just wondering if there is a way to "pull" the next beam into place?
Tried the Align tool, dosen't seem to work.

All input appreciated.

Normal Align is the one I should have played with(makes sense eventually!)
Didn't realise you have to select the "To Be Moved" object, the face on that object, then the destination face. That works.
Tried all that in gmax, the Orbiter machine has gone to bed. Try in 3DS Max tommorow, if any different, I'll report here. Otherwise this is done!

I'm using Max 2012, and I just zoom in real tight and align manually. Some times I overlap on purpose, but make sure the final dimension is correct.

I tried the method above with poor results, but I'm no master, just A. Rank Amateur!

Hi Capt. H, thats my method too, just trying to get a bit more skill on Max!
Still using 5.1, does all I'll ever need in Orbiter, but my current project will need hi-res models,.
Must admit that Align Normals is a real useful tool, should have found it years ago. Now to play with vertax welding, having fun with that...

I tried welding and had mild results, I'll have to get better at it though if I'm to get the CST-100 right. See ya in the threads...

Why don't you put a line from one vertex to the other and then slide the vertex to the stationary one. You could also look at the coors of the stationary vertex and make the other the same. weld together after all is aligned.

Can't speak for CapatainH, but my problem with welding vertices is getting up close to them in the viewports. Any large mouse movement and they are in the next room. Tried playing with the FOV and zoom tools, and the zoom window, but its very twitchy.

Could well be the old version of Max I'm using(5.1).

Have to sort it soon though, nearly finished the 'Steel and Concrete" phase on my current project, then its the 'pipework and gauges'.
