Orbiter Screenshot Thread

The beautiful (and classical) Delta GliderIV.

This add-on installed it today and I recommend it as a replacement for the original mesh of the space station similar to a wheel that is included in Orbiter.

With ENB Series of SolarLiner:thumbup:

I think this atmosphere look is caused by ENB

Wat's your atmosphere configuration?

Looking and trying different add-ons found one that gave a more realistic atmosphere (more bluish than the original color) color.
The add-on I used was this:

and the atmosphere is great from using ENB Series (requires D3D9)

Finally if you want a more realistic view from the ground (and air) using this supplement: Fluffy Cloud Generator

and I changed the settings to generate realistic clouds. Adjunct the settings.
Finally for best sea waves I downloaded Hires Specular Ripple:

Mediafire changes the sizes and resolutions of the images, so you can download the originals from these link:

Greetings.

My first screenshot

Now I just have to figure out how to post them properly like those above. Ted-

Thanks Space. I'm an old 2006 die hard. I just couldn't let go of some older add-ons. After trying some of the new features with 2010, and upgrades from developers, I'll not let their efforts be ignored. Besides that, I love it.

Plane vizualization class at CSSC, day1. Ecliptic, Equatorial and an Earth-Moon transfer trajectory.

Earth and the Eq and Ecl planes.
school1_zpsef7e3979.jpg

A off-plane lunar transfer with minimum R.Inc. The plane of the Moon in grey and the trajectory in red.

Same wrt the ecliptic.

Plus the equatorial plane. 23.45° isn't such a small angle after all.

A top down view of all the planes.

You sir, are a steely-eyed Add-on Developer.

I know I say this a lot, but that would be a terrific addition to the base Orbiter package. Cant you just imagine, being able to show this to a new Orbinaut before they take off for the moon/mars/ISS?

:hailprobe:

@dgat, how did you do that thing with the planes? That would be cool to integrate into a launch complex (maybe for autopilot programming?). Especially those orbit paths...

Mission control, anyone?

The goal is an "Orbiter-School" addon with lua scripted interactive tutorials.

*If* I ever get it done, I'd be more than happy to donate it if Martin wants to include it. But I am not so sure if it will get far; I am having a lot of trouble with the animations.

On a different scenario (Earth orbiting the sun), even a "simple" thing like animating Earth's path around the sun isn't so simple (at least to me). I end up with a perpetual winter instead of the axis of rotation staying at the same orientation, which would produce the seasons. And on top of that I need to make the Earth spin.

Untitled-11.jpg

Things are somewhat simpler on scenarios where the Earth (different vessel) is in the center, but I really need to get the animations correct, because for now, I am using a different vessel for each pair of planes.

Mission control, anyone?

Vessels with textured spheres and simple square-2sided-transparent mesh-groups. What you can't see in the pic is the animations. (Earth rotates @1 rps along the equator and the Moon rotates around the Earth -tidally locked- @27.32 rps, with 5° tilt wrt to the ecliptic)

Isn't it in fact a tentative of reproducing orbiter inside orbiter itself?

why don't you use the already performed (amazing) job of martin? you could for example create a simplified system, porperly tweaked (for example with distance much much shorter, and with movements far far quicker, in order to see them without time acceleration), and find the way to draw planes and other effects in that. So you wouldn't have to re-do from scratch the orbiter core!

that's only a thinking/suggestion of course, the idea is really nice
