Vessel New Glenn addon inspired by BrianJ's Falcon 9

Back to trying to code this.
newglenprofile.jpg
Still no luck on the autoland.

I redid the PMI and cross sections and thrust and ISp. But the 1st stage is bad.

SetPMI(_V(159, 159, 16));
SetCrossSections(_V(415,417,58));

thrust info
const double STG1ISP0 = 3400;
const double STG1ISPV = 3700;
const double STG1MAINTH0 = 2450000;

This is what I get;
1st stage separates around 100km.

Not sure why the 1stage is not straighten up?

Thrust ignites at t-02. But when it releases it drops and then rises up?

Maybe too heavy?

So I made it when it separate to the falcon9 and it crashed in the ocean:(

No ideas

I put a falcon9 and the LZ1 where the barge should be?
All you need is my lp36.
But it still crashes into the water

Here is just the LP36 and the falcon9 at the pad. Of course you need the Falcon9 for 2016.

@BrianJ

Hopefully someone can see why it will not make it to the LZ1 stationed where the barge should be?

Hi,
I tried your Falcon9 test. It won't reach the LZ1 because the autopilot is set to launch to +50deg inc. on the ascending node (Northerly azimuth), but the LZ1 is way South of Cape Canaveral.

You could:
Set autopilot to -50deg.inc. (descending node - Southerly launch azimuth).
And / Or
Use the "Estimated ASDS Position" given on the Launch Control Panel for LZ1 location.

Good luck!
BrianJ

Like this?
So Should I position the barge at the ASDS?

I did this and the rocket landed here.

Yes. Funny, I used your Launch Control Panel settings and LZ1 location and it worked for me.
Landed perfectly spot on, wind effects enabled etc. 🤷‍♂️

BTW you should press the Launch Control Panel "Refresh" Button after moving the landing target, it'll give you a new fuel reserve estimate, based on the new target position.

Cheers,
BrianJ

Hi,
installed your Jackyln barge, used the FALCON9TEST2.SCN, worked fine for me (even though it is on the edge of what the Falcon9 autopilot can cope with from such a high 1st stage apogee - has to stand on its head to do the boostback burn).
f9ngt.jpg

Do you have "Attachment Manager" enabled on your Modules tab?
If so, disable it. That might be it.

Nice barge, by the way (y)

Good luck!
BrianJ

Thanks. I get this. Since the NG is more powerful I wonder if I need to up the AP values? Might need to raise the TD of the barge

That is just an adapter
The adapter is the wide-base white cone below, which interfaces the 2º stage to the payload.

She is too heavy also as she sinks at launch
To confirm that, you can turn on the force vectors in Orbiter and see if the thrust is greater than the weight.

Also, first stage apogee at 191 Km is way above the 127 Km of NG-2.
